The war on terror, the Middle East, teachers, and prevention of breast cancer occupied the President's public remarks today.
The President spoke to the 2004 Newspaper Association of America annual convention in Washington; he "acknowledged difficulties in trying to head off another Sept. 11-type attack on the United States because America is a 'hard country to defend' and U.S. intelligence is never perfect," and said "a nuclear-armed Iran would pose an intolerable threat to peace and stability in the Middle East and a mortal danger to the state of Israel." He "rejected international condemnation of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and said world leaders owed him a 'thank you' for his plans for the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Bush said the Palestinian leadership has 'failed the people, year after year after year' by not preventing terrorism against the Jewish state." (Yahoo quotes)
The First Couple celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Komen National Race for the Cure, a five-kilometer run that raises funds for breast cancer awareness, and participated in the 2004 national and state Teacher of the Year award ceremony in the Rose Garden, where Laura told secrets on her husband from his student days.

So Dubya and Laura can take a bad picture after all.
An update about Cesear. He is at Bethesda and will be there for a bit. We were told that he was coming West by this weekend but alas this is not so. His Mom is now going to fly to Baltimore to be with him. She is very happy that he is on U.S. soil and is able to call her.
As it stands now they should be flying to California some time late next week. Cesear's Mom appreciates all the prayers that have been offered up on his behalf.
A friend of mine that was on the prayer chain suggested after Cesear was shot that if he had not be on the prayer list prior to, that he would have been listed as a KIA instead of a WIA.

Thought I heard that many of the press found him extremely relaxed and the best they've seen him. Any clue if it will replay on C-span?

THANKS for the Dose, Gretchen! Some VERY interesting pics here. LOL!
Rush was SO impressed with how the President handled himself at the press thingy today. He said that he knew that everyone there hated him, and yet our dear President spoke to them as though they were all supporters.
He is one special man!

The President refered to them as the Politboro, LOL! Just kidding of course. But did you see the faces of the press when they panned the room?? I haven't seen such grim, humorless, joyless faces in a long time.
Hubby and I both roared laughing with the "politboro" reference :-)
Then we both stopped on a dime when the camera showed sections of the audience... what superior, condescending snobs! How in the world did Dubya give a speech so casually and full of confidence while facing that poisonous group?

ATTENTION ALL PRAY-ERS!!
Before I leave and get to bed...... kitkat freepmailed me and said she is in great pain (from a previous injury), and asked me to pray for her.
I hope she doesn't mind my sharing it, but I know how much prayer support is out there among Dosers, and I know she needs it now!

Photographers do not have to release bad pictures like that. They take dozens of shots of the same thing, and usually choose the best one to publish, so that was done on purpose IMHO.
That said, thanks for the dose! The story Laura told about little George is hilarious. I can just picture him doing that too! He is a character to this day.

Can you imagine that former occupant at a Breast Cancer Awareness Conference? The mind boggles. Overload! .He would be offering free breast examinations all day! ( I couldn't resist, sorry!)

Then we both stopped on a dime when the camera showed sections of the audience... what superior, condescending snobs! How in the world did Dubya give a speech so casually and full of confidence while facing that poisonous group? That's precisely correct! I had the same impressions in those few seconds....snobs and poisonous. Definitely Old Media!
I figure they are cranky for a couple of reasons. First, they hate the President. Second, they know deep down that the public is on to their little tricks and they don't carry near the clout they once did as media RATS. So yes, they are a sad and sorry lot.
It is good to see the President enjoying himself. Rush mentioned this today too. It's another reason the Old Media is crabby, LOL!
