Hamtramck,Mich.--Over some residents' objections, the City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to allow a mosque to send out a call to prayer to Muslims on a loudspeaker....five times a day.

By pandering to the muslim request, the city council has abandoned any pretense of equality before the law for all residents of their town.


Yes. And they should be voted/kicked out at the first opportunity!

Meanwhile, play that christian music, it is a form of protest anyone within earshot will understand. and remember, they cant arrest all of you!. If they arrest Christians for "civil disobedience, the news across the country will go ballistic!

Makes me sick, I am sick and tired of freaking Muslims. They are worse than flea or cokroach infestation. They are using our freedoms to infiltrate and then their goal is to dominate.
I have read several news articles where they are trying to become a cohesive political voting force. Before you know it thay will be in our government and their goal of having us all submit to the will of Allah will be well underway. I don't know if there are currently any Muslims in congress...does anybody else?

One argument for banning the public call to prayer (and church bells) would be that they are no longer needed - the invention of the watch has made them unnecessary, and banning them does not constitute an infringement on private religious practice. Hence, there is no compelling governmental reason to exempt them from anti-noise regulations.

Another argument: Since most Michiganders do not speak Arabic, how do we know that they will always be shouting "a call to prayer" & not someday in the future shout, "a call to battle?"

Spend some time in the Middle East. The same things go on with the Moose Limbs. Apparently if you are from Saudi Arabia but are on vacation in Dubai or Bahrain, Allah can't see you so you are wide open to sin.

The headline of the article is not just wrong, but wrong in a VERY significant way. (Not the poster's fault either, as it was written this way by FOX)

I am not thrilled about this either, but there is a HUGE difference between the "call to prayer" and a "Muslim prayer."

I can't see a legitimate argument that would stop a call to prayer if one allows church bells. Just last week, I did gardening at my home as the soft sounds of amazing grace played behind me.

in my view, the only legitimate limitation -- and it is indeed legitimate, would be the volume and the time.

Most communities have a noise ordinance that deals with decibel levels and time. At a minimum, it seems the 6 am time is too late. In my old hometown, 7:30 was the time at which the noise limits raised.

HAMTRAMCK, Mich. — Over some residents' objections, the City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to allow a mosque to send out a call to prayer to Muslims (search) on a loudspeaker.

The Bangladeshi al-Islah (search) mosque asked for permission to air the Arabic call to prayer via loudspeakers five times a day, though it compromised by agreeing not to air the call before 6 a.m. or after 10 p.m.

Some Muslims say the call is the equivalent of church bells. Opponents argued that church bells have no religious significance and that allowing the Arabic call, which lasts less than two minutes, unfairly elevates Islam above other religions.

Wake Up! If you don't make your voices heard and stand up for Christ , You are a disgrace.
