Hamtramck,Mich.--Over some residents' objections, the City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to allow a mosque to send out a call to prayer to Muslims on a loudspeaker....five times a day.

My understanding is that it is Albanian "refugees" from the "situation" in Kosovo, coming here and spreading the same filth they spread there. No wonder they're also known as "Elbow-nians". The opposition is Polish Catholics who have been there for (I think) 80-100 years. They do ring their bells, and they don't like this one bit. I expect violence.

I am totally appalled and offended. I live near Cleveland and we have a huge mosque right here. If I had to listen to them call out the name of some pagan god 5 times a day, I think I'd get sick. You can start a ping list for this stuff if you want and put me on it. I'm serious about this. Change happens gradually and I can see this as an insidious cancer that the person can't see yet but the cells are multiplying moment by moment.

The problem with our country now is that many of those in power here are unable to articulate why what we believe is right and wrong, is right and wrong.

The problem with Islam seems to be a willingness to use violence to achieve a religious end. We ought to declare that the First Amendment does not apply to any institution that refuses to expressly reject the use of violence to achieve a religious/political/philosophical end apart from self-defense or keeping public order.

Also, another way I've heard it said (in regards to why both Europeans and Mohammedans hate us) is this: Europeans think Americans are too religious and Mohammedans think that Americans are not religious enough.

Here's a distinction, Steve. A bell and a sung prayer over a loudspeaker are not the same thing. Something that would be similar would be if a church wanted to broadcast a Gloria In Excelsis five times a day starting at 6:00 a.m. and ending at 10:00 p.m. Personally, I would like it. If the problem were that it was in English, let it be sung in Latin. See if you think the following would be allowed:

As a born again believer in Jesus Christ, everytime I hear this call to prayer or quran recited I FEEL SO ILL. MANY OTHER CHRISTIANS i talk to feel same way.. I wish i lived there i would band together with fellow christians and do something.. I like the idea all pull up in front of mosque with teen cars.. HUGE SPEAKERS YA KNOW LOL.... Blare some scriptures for them .. :) Count me in if it heads to cincinnati area

This is the beginning of establishment of Sharia in the United States. These calls proclaim the dominance of Islam (and Allah) over the area. I predicted this was going to begin happening here (in the US) about a year ago on another thread. I was met with numerous proclamations to the effect that it would happen "over my dead body" from other FReepers.
