Kirsten, your photos made the news (Pictures of our troops in Iraq)(Please read)
Posted on 04/20/2004 8:59:37 PM PDT by Aliska
I will email Kirstin the link to this thread, so if you have some words of encouragement and prayers for her and her buddies, please post them. May God bless them all and bring them home safe.
These photos came from a young lady from my hometown serving in Iraq named Kirsten. The subject was "photos that will never make the news". For privacy reasons, I don't want to give out more information about her, but she emailed these to her sister and my daughter and they are being forwarded around the net through email. I am taking the liberty of posting them on Free Republic and want her to know that she and all her friends are in our thoughts and prayers for a safe return.
I believe the first picture is Kirsten with the kitty. She had to leave her own kitty in the care of her family back here and misses it very much.
I think I saw the last picture here on Free Republic awhile back.

The perfumed mail photo was taken in Karbala in March, 2003. I think some of the others attributed to the AP are at least a year old as well.
Very powerful images - I added two of them to a folder back when they were first taken.
Here's another, from Umm Qasr 3/03 - Brit handing out candy.
And one from Afghanistan during the same time period.
One of my all-time favorites - salute to the 15th MEU in Nasiriyah 4/03.
Last but not least - soldier handing out a flower in Basra last April.

Thank you so much for adding your beautiful, moving pictures to the thread. I'll try to find out more about the ones I posted and keep you updated.

Which of the five do you think is the Israeli soldier?I told you, the one from your post #4, the one where the soldier is petting the kitty cat. Maybe it isn't Israeli, another poster suggested Czech or Italian, but it looks like an Israeli helmet. I seriously doubt this because Czechs don't use the M16A2 for their assault rifles and neither do the Italians (that I am aware of). I think the Czechs use the AK-47 (Warsaw Pact carryover) and the Italians would most likely use something from Beretta (domestic gun manufacturer) or maybe H&K (very popular worldwide).

Tell her what a brave girl she is - and how much we thank her and love her for what she is doing for us!!

Great stuff. These pictures won't make the RatherJenningsBrokaw news, but they made THIS news. There are a ton lurkers out there. Your friend Kirstin, with these photos, is fighting one of the nastiest parts of the war, on the propaganda front line. It's NOT all doom and gloom.

What on earth would possess someone to post something on this thread that would necessitate it being deleted by the mods?

These are the sort of wonderful, selfless people Johnhammed al Qerry slandered for his own political expediency after the Viet Nam war. He is doing it again today, and for the same dirty reason. Damn that lowlife jerk to hell!
