[history]
John O'Neill, the Vietnam veteran who took on John Kerry in the 1971 debate on American "war crimes" that was recently rebroadcast on C-SPAN, will be interviewed by Wolf Blitzer on CNN this evening. O'Neill, who commanded a Swift boat in the same division as Kerry -- though for considerably longer -- more than held his own against Kerry during a 90-minute special broadcast of the Dick Cavett Show. Now he is challenging Senator Kerry to continue the debate they began 33 years ago, in an effort to clear the names of the Vietnam veterans Kerry once accused of war crimes "committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command."

Somehow I wouldn't be surprised if he had received a call from the Bush administration... I don't read it that way. There are quite a few Vietnam vets who see Kerry's candidacy as giving them one last chance to set the record straight, and that's where I think John O'Neill is coming from.
I doubt if the Bush Administration will be upset that this guy rips jacquesstrap kerry, though.

This is truly wonderful news.If CNN cuts him short, there will be others standing in line. The media loves controversy..and may be thinking they need to throw a bone to fair and balanced coverage.Bashing Bush isn't working as a full time menu.

Wolf Blitzer? Yep. Wolfman Jack lite.

As far as I'm concerned, most of the media have already proven they're traitors. I just hope they have the conscience to expose him.
Trouble is, what will happen to Kerry's nomination? Will this open the door for Hilbillary?????
(I'd love to see Kerry cry :-) Teddy too,for that matter!)

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't remember who John O'Neil was at first. I watched the replay of the debate on C-Span and was really impressed with the man. I'll be interested in seeing what he has to say.
I may have to set the video recorder, though. That's not a great time on the west coast. I presume that is Eastern Standard time, not Texas time. Could you clarify that?

John O'Neill has decided on his own to speak out against Kerry. The Bush Administration has not encouraged him to come forward, or even spoken with John. O'Neill will make it clear that he is not political and he has not come out in support of Bush. What has gotten O'Neill going is the same thing that got him going in 1971. He feels Kerry lied about his military record. He feels Kerry has dishonored veterans by claiming "war crimes." He feels Kerry was oportunistic in his VVAW support -- John O'Neill is an Annapolis Graduate who served in Swift Boats himself during Vietnam and he has always opposed Kerry's anti-American stand and behavior.

NO media can ignore this.
I fully expect them to stop giving Hanoi Kerry free coverage.
Coverage for a legitimate political opponent is one thing.
Coverage for a person who commits treason (twice, then and now)is an entitely different matter!
To: jrlc
John O'Neill was on Paul Schiffer's radio show last night (Monday) for an hour. It was an excellent show -- focusing on Kerry's anti-American record in the VVAW and his lies about his military record. Paul Schiffer's radio show is broadcast out of Cleveland, Ohio. Schiffer is doing a week-long expose on Kerry -- You can call into Schiffer's show (or connect to listen) at 888-677-9673.

Last chance for the media to redeem themselves.
If their lead stories after this are not about his resignation
in disgrace we will know where the media really stands.
Right next to Hanoi Kerry and Hanoi Jane

Bye, bye Hanoi Kerry! Well, let's not kid ourselves that this alone is going to torpedo Kerry's candidacy. However, it is a great opportunity to start educating some of the apolitical masses, most of whom lack any real knowledge of the Vietnam war or what the antiwar movement actually did, about some of these issues.
Kerry would like to pretend that all he is guilty of is a "poor choice of words." People need to understand that Kerry repeatedly, systematically lied about American atrocities to undercut public support for the war, while working in close cooperation with North Vietnam and the Vietcong.
To: LindaSOG
Ah, yes, this record of his medals if gonna start bubbling up soon. Good. He's been getting a free ride lately. Blow the war record and his candidacy could virtually collapse even before the convention.
