MANAMA, April 20 (Reuters) - U.S. pop star Michael Jackson's brother, Jermaine, in the Gulf to promote understanding between Muslims and his fellow Americans said on Tuesday that Muslims are "the new Negroes in America". Jermaine, a convert to Islam and dressed in white Arab garb, has been speaking about Islam and U.S. "adventures" in Iraq to enthusiastic audiences at Koranic centres and universities in the Gulf Arab state of Bahrain.
"I think Muslims have become the new Negroes in America. They are being mistreated at airports, by the Immigration -- everywhere," he said.
Jermaine, also a singer, told Reuters in an interview: "I do not agree with the U.S. government. What they are saying about Muslims and Arabs is all propaganda and brainwashing."
"I don't think it is right for us to go to someone else's country and tell them what to do and how to do it," said Jermaine, who is a guest of the royal court in the pro-Western kingdom, which hosts the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet.
He disapproved of Muslim extremism, which has been on the rise in the wake of the U.S. occupation of Iraq last year.
"I understand their feelings but do not approve of their methods. Islam is a religion of peace. They are wrong," he said.

Yes, John Kerry can put the funk back in the White House that Clinton introduced in the 90's.
BTW, my brother is doing great, thank you for asking. He will be transferring from Ft. Campbell,KY, to Ft. Bening Georgia in July. He'll be attending Captain's training there.

Becoming Muslim didn't seem to have helped them too much in Africa, considering that it was the Muslims who have been the greatest purveyors in human flesh from Africa over the past 12 centuries.

My knowledge of American history is a bit shady but I don't recall muslims at any time in the past being... enslaved, being forced to bear master's children, being whipped and sold like chattel, being lynched, being segregated and treated like a second class citizen. I DO KNOW that muslims practice these things AS A MATTER OF LAW to this VERY DAY in their own countries especially our friends the Saudi Arabians and well who can forget? THE SUDAN!

To make his point correctly he should have said that that muslums were "the new Niggers of America".
But its ok for an "American" to go to a foriegn country and bad mouth his countries policy? Why didnt he shout this from the top of the ferris wheel at Neverland?
The Jackson family has been a pox on the American way of life since before Michael was black.
Religion of Peace my ass.

Well, I guess all of the Jacksons are nut jobs. I used to think Janet was the sane one. At the start of the last MJ child molesting episode Jermaine came out to speak to the cameras. By the end of his statement I was thinking to myself 'this guy sound like a Nation of Islam member'. At a latter time I found out he was.
Relations between the races have came a long way, but the Nation of Islam is in a time warp. They are nothing but a bunch of hate mongers. To have a Nation of Islam member come out and speak about how muslims are being treated is laughable. Who decided it would be a good idea to have them speak? Are some people treating muslims bad in America? I would say so. But I think most people over here are going out of their way to be nice to muslims. And if they don't like muslims they are just keeping it to themselves.
I wish Jermaine would go away and take the rest of his wacked out family with him.

Nothing quite like a Muslim extremist (Nation of Islam) disapproving of extremism.

Jermaine, a convert to Islam . . . Jermaine, also a singer . . .
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the koran forbid singing?

How incredibly insulting to black Americans. When was the last time they perpetrated and carried out killing their fellow Americans by flying airplanes full of innocent people into skyscrapers full of innocent people? When was the last time they blew a hole in the side of a US Navy ship? When was the last time black Americans blew up American embassies?
Give me a break. One might make a case for the "new Japanese", although there are holes there as well, but the new Negroes? Uh, no.

You're right, they definitely can't compare the Muslims of today to the Japanese during WWII--Japanese Americans were rounded up and sent to internment camps; and yet, some of them insisted on joining the war effort.
The ALL Japanese-American 442nd unit insisted on fighting Japan and are still known as the most-decorated unit in history.
