MADRID - The burial chamber where Francisco Javier Torronteras, the agent of the Special Group of Operaciones (GEO), was buried, has been found desecrated this morning in Madrid's South cemetery. Mr. Torronteras was killed in the Leganés explosion, by suicidal Islamic terrorists.

The marble covering was set aside, and the body was removed. The covering was then replaced, apparently to escape detection. The investigators think that a dumbbell was used and that they had to be more than the two attackers, to be able to lower to the coffin from the second floor - where the chamber was located. Later, the body was taken to the edge of the cemetery, more than 600 meters away. The police thinks that they used a wheelbarrow for the transfer, given the distance and terrain.

There, next to one of the mud walls that enclose the cemetery, they sprinkled the body with gasoline and set fire to it. Before this, a pick and shovel were used to pierce the body. It is possible that the intention was to take the corpse, given the location, and that when the perpetrators discovered they could not get the body over the wall, decided to set fire to it instead.

It happened early a.m. there - they apparently dragged the body out and burned it so badly it's being identified through DNA testing.

Thanks! Well, I'm glad the story got out. He got a hero's funeral, with all of the then and future government in attendance, so it will be interesting to see what Zap's reaction to this is. So far, I haven't heard any.

The Police and the Ministry of Interior do not deny that this could be an act of revenge for the police's attempted arrest of suspected radicals three days ago in Leganés, but posit that it could have been carried out by people unrelated to the terrorists, since Islam prohibits the desecration of corpses.

This story has not been mentioned in Norway, as far as I am aware. Truly absolutely disgusting. In Norway the story today has been on how the social democrats want to withdraw the Norwegian troops from Iraq and instead give the money this costs to Yassir Arafat to protest against US middle east policy.

I am lost for words on both accounts.
