6 People Were Vacationing With Gay Couple, Tried To Stay At 'Gay' Hotel
KEY WEST, Fla. -- Three couples are complaining they were tossed out of a hotel because of their sexual orientation.
The three straight couples say they were booted from a hotel in Key West for not being gay.
The six were vacationing with a gay couple and had reservations at a hotel.
One of the gay men in the group said the manager told them, "We don't want you here."
He said the group was already settled in their rooms when the manager told the straight couples they would have to leave, citing a policy of not allowing heterosexuals on the property.
The man said the manager told them that he had to appeal to the majority -- and the majority of guests wouldn't want straight people there.
Key West has a city ordinance that prohibits discrimination by sexual orientation in housing and lodging.

Key West has a city ordinance that prohibits discrimination by sexual orientation in housing and lodging. Laws are no good unless they are enforced.

These people will soon be very rich. Of course you won't hear much about this in the media. Could you imagine if a hotel manager had kicked out a homosexual couple, telling them the majority of the guests didn't want them there? OMG--It would be the lead story on every news channel!

It's impossible for homosexuals to be bigoted,
just as it's impossible for African Americans to be racist.

Why would they want to stay in such a place anyway?

Run by, I'm sure, people biased to a particular lifestyle. I've always wondered why heterosexuals don't use these laws to sue for benefits for unmarried STRAIGHT couples. The only difference in whether you get the benefits or not is the gender of your partner. That is discriminiation.

It has been a well accepted fact that if you drop your wallet in Key West, you have to kick it all the way back to your hotel room before you pick it up.

The liberals will try to use this as a rallying cry for the need for Federal Laws prohibiting discrimination of any type against sexual orientation. Its a a clear media stunt.

OOOO! How welcoming and accepting of people different than themselves. Just another in a long list of ok's for one and not for others such as separate womens only gyms, separate minority proms/graduations and now this cute little story.
Enuff of this crapola already.
I hope they sue the pants off'em!

Very true. Now by NOT enforcing it in this instance, any person can now use the legal defese of selective enforcement. The law is one way for discrimination aginst homosexuals but another way for discrimination against normal people.
The key is going to be religious groups.
The functional reason for the discrimination is the tiny hotels down there probably want to keep the "bath house" style of opperation going.

Yep, I'm going to agree.
Found this story on several different news sites and the stories are almost EXACTLY the same on every site. Almost verbatim.
The media is pulling this for some reason, IMO.

addendum: the religions groups as key means they are the only ones with the money and will to fight this to a useful conlusion. You need only wait for the first case to "discriminate" against homosexuals and the argue selective enforcement.

The only guidleine about it is thus:
Don't represent yourself as another person, create or use another screen name to avoid a revocation of posting privileges I'm not trying to avoid anything like "loss of posting privileges" or cause any problems...just trying out a new nickname for fun. If I'm told to stop of course, I will.
