A few hours ago, Kerry offered another shift in stance--this time on his policy in Cuba. During the beginnings of the Democratic primaries, Kerry reached out to snatch Cuban American voters by criticizing Bush on his lax attitude towards Castro. He assured that if he were in office, things would change in policy. But, according to the US News Wire, he definied where he stood. While maintaining that he would uphold the Embargo, he conceded that he planned to ease travel restrictions. I'm not the brightest guy in the world, but it would seem dropping the travel restrictions would be in direct violation of the Embargo he seeks to uphold. I don't know. I just hope the folks making a new film (www.boxersandballerinas.com) are willing to embrace these contradictions. Too tired of films that placate a tyrant.

Kerry is like neopolitan ice cream, three different flavors in one box, the liberals who don't like one flavor pick a different one - but all from the same place. Kerry is trying to appease all the people at the party, and eventually someone will notice that there is always something about him which everyone dislikes.

But us evil americans might flood their country, embolden them to become free, and castro could be out.

The left would not like that, it's Imperialism and might force those poor terrorists to hurt us in self defense (and then we will have to pay them reperations).

Sadly, as silly as it sounds, such things can be found on some message boards which I will not speak here lest I be guilty of blasphemy :)

And personally, I think lifting the restrictions could help in flooding cuba with Americanism and help get castro out. Heck, then Janet could go visit elian!

IT COMES AS no surprise to learn that John Kerry, who hates to take one position on an issue when he can take two or three, has come down strongly in favor -- and strongly against -- US policy in Cuba.

I think that Jeff's essay on the topic is once again timely. Then again, whenever Kerry opens his mouth, it is pretty much timely.
