[history]
The Federal Election Commission is investigating a Hollywood gala that raised more than $1 million for Hillary Rodham Clinton's 2000 Senate campaign, according to people familiar with the probe.
The FEC investigation, launched several weeks ago, comes atop a U.S. Justice Department inquiry that has focused in recent months on the event and former Clinton finance executive David Rosen.
In addition, documents reviewed by the Los Angeles Times indicate that a federal grand jury in Los Angeles has been examining evidence of wrongdoing by a number of people in connection with the activities of Aaron Tonken, the fund-raising impresario behind the event.

Wonder how many people will have to go to prison for the Clintons this time?

This could turn out to be huge. Here's to that prospect. Finally, one of the Clintons might get what's coming to them.

I wish it would but it never seems to happen.

Isn't that the truth.
There is a paper trail on this one. One donor paid over $2 million towards the production of this event, which was listed as only $350k in FEC reporting. Oops!
To: DoughtyOne
Just heard this on Fox news. Anyone else? Did the reporter also say that Mrs. Clinton will NOT run on a ticket with Kerry?

Yes we've been down this road so many times we could travel it with our eyes closed. Let's just hope they've put in a new stop-light that we were unaware of. lol
To: LisaFab
Yes, they said that.
I had wondered why Hillary was doing some interviews. Now it looks like she was just trying to put out a good image before the stuff hits the fan.

I'd take what Peter Paul has to say with a grain or two of salt until it gets into the 'under oath' and 'proof' stage...
It would be nice but the FEC usually doesn't do more that a slap on the wrist, a fine and say don't do it again....

The money given to Clinton by Mochtar Riady to finish the primary and beat out Bob Kerry ( A true hero and Vietnam Veteran) was never questioned. This will not go anywhere either. Democrats can void a US Senate primary in New Jersey when he poll numbers are low for the Democratic candidate and slip in a substitute Democrat in on the ballot without a problem. Nobody will question illegal money or donations because it will all be blamed on that &^%$%*&^^& right wing group that keeps spreading rumors.

I would agree with that unless information warrants a criminal indictment. As for Paul, it appears there is documentation to back up his claims. If that's true, just ouch.
I believe it was Carl Limbaucher that stated on Fox that there was paperwork to back up the claims. Fox gave the impression that there were two people making this claim, but I do beleive both were convicted of crimes themselves.

Thanks for the comments. To say these are two of the slipperiest characters known to modern man, is an understatement.

Yes Paul claims that and Klayman has hollered that and claimed they have receipts for a long time.... But the question is did he provide the receipts/paper/expense vouchers/donations etc. to the campaign for FEC filing? Or was this part of the $17 million dollar deal he was doing with X42 to get him signed on his company? The campaign can't report what isn't giving to them when Paul was doing this himself. I'm sure Paul has cancelled checks, etc.....
I personally don't think it will reach to the top as in most campaigns there are too many layers of underlings to absorb the responsibility... from various campaign managers, to lawyers, to accountants and very seldom does it get to the very top or candidate....... JMO.
Our best hope is for some criminal activites to be exposed that reach up to the top... Now that would be hugh.....

Yes it would be hugh. The FNC report also stated that this touches on the pardon for pay probe regarding Luis Rich. Heh heh heh, one can't be blamed for holding a small amount of hope.
To: wagglebee
Why does it have to take 4 years to get an investigation? So how many years will it take to investigate Kerry's 527 income and expenditures? Don't expect it to happen before the November election. Wouldn't want to see the Democrats in money woes.

True, but there is also a grand jury looking into this fundraiser.
No doubt Hillary! wishes Mary Jo Whitewash was still around.
