Vanity - Anyone know Kerry's SAT scores?
Posted on 04/18/2004 4:10:53 PM PDT by Conservomax
Does anybody know what John Kerry got on his SAT's? I ask because I haven't heard anything about Bush's (above average) SAT scores in a while. I'm sure if Kerry outscored him, it would be a national talking piece.
I know Kerry had a great education, and I am sure he probably did fairly well, but I wonder because I haven't heard anything about it.

SAT scores don't matter if you've been in Vietnam.

If the press doesn't report his SATs daily, they're lower than W's.

Bush/Gore Grades and SAT Scores (posted March 23, 2000)
Confidential college transcripts and test scores obtained by the Washington Post reveal that neither presidential candidate, George W. Bush nor Al Gore, were shining students during their college days at Yale and Harvard, respectively. Although each earned respectable scores on the SAT college admissions test (a total of 1355 of 1600 for Gore and 1206 for Bush), neither did that well in their college courses. Both earned a mix of B and C grades. Gore's lowest grade of D came in a natural sciences course, while his top grades were an A in French and English, an A in Visual and Environmental Studies, and an A- in Social Relations. Bush's lowest marks were a 70 (of 100) in Sociology and a 71 in Economics, while his highest scores were High Passes in History and Japanese.

You make an extremely cogent point. There are some very bad leaders from the past who undoubtedly had very high iqs like Lenin. I'm not going to put down raw intelligence, but remember George Bernard Shaw and Albert Einstein both thought soviet-style communism was great stuff and the wave of future. Intelligence has to be combined with other elements as you have pointed out. Churchill did poorly in school, and his father despaired for his future. We know the rest of the story.
