Aren't there treatments to prevent people from groing excessively tall? "Shut offs" of the pituitary gland? I saw a special on the science channel about a girl who was destined to be 6' 7"+ ; she got the treatment and topped out at 5' 10" or so. Can't they at least freeze this guy's height before it gets any worse?

This may be a 'scientific urban legend', but I seem to recall reading about a man who had a defective pituitary gland-he was a dwarf, less than 4' 5". Then in his twenties he suffered a head injury, which put his pituitary gland into hyperdrive...He grew to 5'0"...5' 6"..6'...And he kept on growing till he was a little over 7', when his overstrained body gave out. So gvoes the tale, anyway, which I read in either Guiness or a Guiness copycat book of records.

Yes, I think he can and should be treated. But it sounds like he's dirt poor . . . Can't even afford shoes. Maybe he'll get some donations as a result of this story. I hope so. If not, it's probably curtains for the poor man.
