WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Jamie Gorelick, a member of the commission investigating the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, said Saturday that she received death threats this week after a number of conservatives alleged that her former work in the Justice Department may have contributed to failures leading to the attacks.
In the mid-1990s, Gorelick served as deputy attorney general of the United States. During that time, she wrote a memorandum establishing distinctions between intelligence that could be used for law-enforcement purposes and intelligence that could be used for national security purposes.
That separation was originally required as a safeguard against abuse of citizens' rights by government investigative agencies. But passage of the Patriot Act in the wake of the attacks eliminated the requirement.
The so-called "wall" governing intelligence uses has been a key subject at hearings of the commission. It has been blamed for being a main obstacle to better sharing of information in connection with the September 11 attacks.
"I can confirm that I've received threats at my office and my home," she told CNN on Saturday. "I did get a bomb threat to my home."
She added, "I have gotten a lot of very vile e-mails. The bomb threat was by phone."
ABC News first reported the story Saturday.

I think so. In fact, I think they all claim at some port or another.

..but there is absolutely NO excuse for making death threats to her. Cheer up, there probably weren't.

Yep....this is so typical of this crowd. CNN is the only one reporting this; wonder why. Glad Ashcroft cooked her goose. She never in a million yrs expected Ashcroft to declassify this document. She needs to be very worried about what else will be declassified. I think this is just the tip of the iceberg.

In fact, I think they all claim at some port or another. That should say "I think they all claim it at some point or another."

I'm no police investigator, but can't they check the phone records to see who called in this "bomb threat" to her?
The woman is obviously lying.
To: Glenn
Quick, Ms. Gorelicker. Date and times please. Quick, quick, quick. While the info is still fresh in your mind.

"Hopefully, she'll be FORCED off the committee, then be FORCED to testify, though it's doubful that you'd get any more truth than was gottten from Clarke's 'testimony'."
I'd love to see her on the receiving end. Of course, she would do what comes naturally and lie through her teeth, but maybe we could at least get her to sweat a little bit.

You don't believe her do you? She's already lied on one of the most important things she's doing now. She DIDN'T report on her own memo.
NOW you believe her? Give me a break, you've been here a long time, too long to jump to the conclusion you did.

Didn't Dasshole try this one about a year and a half ago?You mean when he sent himself some anthrax?
To: Mr Rogers
Do you really believe conservatives have offered her threats? That is be behaviour of liberals...democrat blowhards. I think she is lying to get sympathy. I agree. The Pubies know better plus they just wouldn't have the cajones. The most daring thing I can envision a Pubie doing is passing gas in a crowded elevator.

I'm just waiting for her to play the sexism card....
"This administration cannot stand a strong woman, blah, blah, blah, blah....."
To: Glenn
Any death threats Gorelicker got, was probably from the liberal side. "You resign and get called to testify before the committee and tell the truth-We'll kill you!!!!!"

Uhhh Ms. Gore-lick, some people recieved actual death because of your wish to protect criminal terrorists.

She added, "I have gotten a lot of very vile e-mails.Not surprising, with a name like Gorelicker.

How about I modify my statement to "if" she received death threats.
I agree she could be lying, but I have also seen some people go way too far in their reactions.
We need to fight the battle with all our might, but I just do not want to see us put unneeded obstacles in our path.
Again, you may be right that she received no death threats and, if so, I apologize.

Color me skeptical.
Keep in mind that Leftists aways concoct these stories to either shift the focus to their opponents, or to garner false support for their beleifs, which never seem to hold up without manufactured evidence.
Tawana Brawley and racist police attacks, black church burnings, nazi symbols painted on houses, death threats posted on black student's dorm room doors and most recently, a college professor who's car was trashed while she gave a lecture on racism - all have proven to be perpetrated by the "victim" themselves.
Unfortunately, the initial act and blame is always printed on the front page, while the discovery that the "crime" or "threat" was faked is usually buried on the back pages, if it is printed at all.
The Clinton's conveniently received "threats," every time things got a little too hot - no doubt, by the mythical "VRWC."
I say this: Produce the evidence. These "threats" supposedly came by email. No doubt, this can be tracked down. The fact is, anybody that currently understands this situation is too smart to make threats by email. So if any threats have been made, they are certainly by people who have a lot keep hidden - those from the Clinton administration themselves - certainly not people on the Right.
