9/11 commissioner: 'I've received threats'

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Jamie Gorelick, a member of the commission investigating the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, said Saturday that she received death threats this week after a number of conservatives alleged that her former work in the Justice Department may have contributed to failures leading to the attacks.

In the mid-1990s, Gorelick served as deputy attorney general of the United States. During that time, she wrote a memorandum establishing distinctions between intelligence that could be used for law-enforcement purposes and intelligence that could be used for national security purposes.

That separation was originally required as a safeguard against abuse of citizens' rights by government investigative agencies. But passage of the Patriot Act in the wake of the attacks eliminated the requirement.

The so-called "wall" governing intelligence uses has been a key subject at hearings of the commission. It has been blamed for being a main obstacle to better sharing of information in connection with the September 11 attacks.

"I can confirm that I've received threats at my office and my home," she told CNN on Saturday. "I did get a bomb threat to my home."

She added, "I have gotten a lot of very vile e-mails. The bomb threat was by phone."

ABC News first reported the story Saturday.

Gorelick is using the "4th Juror" defense, the one used in the recent TYCO trial. The juror claimed she had been threatened and the judge was forced to declare a mistrial.
This particular juror was a misfit and determined one way or the other to disrupt the verdict.

I am sure that I don't believe her. She has proven herself to have a problem with the truth.

I don't trust her .

I am sure she has been bombarded with emails telling her to resign & some "if you know what's good for you" stuff.

Are you going to be on the square this AM? I am going to early church :& will go before heading over to the Maple Syrup festival

And let's not forget her good buddy Clarke, who complained that the 'peacekeepers' were not getting out of harms way and out of Rwanda quickly enough.

There is no end to the horrors perpetrated on the innocent by the previous administration.

"can't they check the phone records to see who called in this "bomb threat" to her?"

They sure can. Unless 'Law & Order' is wrong. They call it "checking the lugs".

With a court order the cops can get a record of all her incoming and outgoing calls. Then again, maybe she doesn't want the cops to know who she's calling.

"...she received death threats this week after a number of conservatives..."

Uh, how does she know they were from Conservatives? Did the email 'threats' go something like this:

Hi Jamie, I'm a conservative and you're a vile (blank) and I'm gonna (blank) you because I'm a conservative and you're not.
Best Wishes,
A Conservative

If anything, this sounds like something the leftists would do. Create a diversion and put the blame on the VRWC.

That being said, I'm sure she's received hundreds of emails demanding her resignation from the commission do to her blatant conflict of interest. I'd also guess that many were 'strongly worded' to say the least. But would those be 'vile' or considered 'death threats', hardly.

Then again, to demoncRATS with their inherent victim mentality, any disagreement with them is seen as a personal attack. And as we know, to them any 'name calling' is a hate crime.

Anyway, I don't believe her. Her credibility is ZERO after Ashcroft outed her and her memo. But 'allegedly' the FBI is investigating, that should prove interesting.
