April 16, 2004 Honorable Thomas H. Kean Chairman National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States
Dear Mr. Chairman:
As you know, the task of the 9/11 Commission is threefold. Task one is to examine and report on facts pertaining to the United States' intelligence and security infrastructure leading up to the 9/11 attacks. Task two is to provide our government with recommendations that will help prevent similar attacks in the future. And task three is to accomplish tasks one and two in a nonpartisan, disinterested manner.
Unfortunately, the commission's recent public hearings have frequently fallen short of meeting these responsibilities. Some commissioners' tactics during questioning have served to distort witness statements, cut off answers and otherwise blur the distinction between the commission's work and a prime-time cable talk show.
However deliberate and respectful the commission's private meetings may be, its recent public hearings have displayed neither the nonpartisanship nor the seriousness expected by Congress and demanded by the American people.
The camera-driven tone of the hearings undermines the commission's credibility, distracts the American people from the gravity of the War on Terror and could send dangerous messages to unfriendly eyes and ears around the world.
I am also concerned to find commissioners fanning out across media programs to discuss the ongoing investigation. Commissioners are presumably entering this process with open minds, yet many are discussing their views before a complete accounting has been obtained.

How difficult it is to be a voice of reason rubbing against those that not a clue, except to champion their uncompromising positon of hate.
DeLay almost always gets a thumbs up from me.

The organization and conduct of, and coverup by, this committee is
more than enough insight and evidence into EXACTLY
how we in America became vulnerable to the 911 Atrocities by al Qaeda. Disgraced Commissioner Kean: "Ms Gorelick is one of the finest members
of the commission and one of the most bipartisan members.
People ought to stay out of our business."

Kean has allowed this entire thing to become a joke. He should go as well a the co-chairman. His statement that this is "our business" indicates what an ass he is and how flawed the process have become.

Maybe you didn't get the message - DeLay just told him .. clean up this mess or the commission will be shut down. Check DeLay's statement about "the Congress created" - in other words - the congress giveth and the congress taketh away.
And .. I suspect this letter had a green light from the WH. I don't know that as a fact, but I suspect it is.

The Commission is a joke. It is not and never was intended to find facts regarding 9/ll.

EVERY Republican congress critter should hit the airwaves come Monday (or even the Sunday talking head shows, if possible.) They return from recess Monday morning, so they have an excuse for their silence thus far. Jamie Gorelick is a walking conflict of interest on that commission, and she has got to go!

Maybe you didn't get the message - DeLay just told him .. clean up this mess or the commission will be shut down. He said no such thing. Closest you can come it:
It is accountable to Congress, as Congress is accountable to the American people. Congress is therefore duty-bound to ensure the commission's credibility, which has lately been bruised not by external attacks but by the public behavior of the commissioners themselves.
There are no demands or threats to shut it down. If there were, DeLay should have said Gorelick resigns tomorrow or you'll be cleaning out your locker the same day!
Once again a shot for a Rupublican to draw the line and all he does is gently remind all the hacks of there job. Too much carrot and not enough stick! DeLay doesn't have the balls to shut them down...or he would have done it after Ken told the American people to leave them alone and mind their own business! That right there should have locked the doors on them!
