Dru was last seen late Saturday Nov. 22nd, as she was leaving the Columbia Mall in Grand Forks where she worked. Her mother, Linda Walker, said her daughter was talking to her boyfriend in Minneapolis on her cell phone about 5 p.m. Saturday when he heard her say, "Oh, my God," before the phone went dead.
The boyfriend called Sjodin's roommate to ask about her after a second call about three hours later that lasted only about a minute, with no conversation. The roommate called police after Sjodin did not show up for her 9 p.m. shift as a waitress in a Grand Forks bar.
Police traced the second call from Sjodin's cell phone to the area near Fisher. Police said the cell phone signal put it within about five miles of the tower near Fisher from about 8 p.m. Saturday until the signal faded out 24 hours later.
Police said Sjodin's red car was found in a Columbia Mall parking lot with a package inside that she apparently had bought at the mall. They found no sign of a struggle

Obviously she is dead and has been since right after she was abducted.

I'm afraid you are probably correct on both counts. So sad.

Missing N.D. Student Found
Saturday, April 17, 2004
CROOKSTON, Minn. Dru Sjodin (search), the University of North Dakota (search) student who disappeared last November, has been found, authorities said Saturday.
Sheriff Mark LeTexier sobbed as he told volunteers, "Dru is home." He would not immediately elaborate, though Sjodin has been presumed dead.
Volunteers had joined the search for the 22-year-old student on Saturday.
LeTexier said he would give details later.

Reports here that police are crying even after such time has elapsed, seems strange after the time lag. Tears of joy after all hope was lost, or tears of revulsion over her horrid condition... dead or alive?
The initial story and arrest of the perv/perp did not lead one to think this would be a happy ending.
To: Starshine
I would like to think she was found alive, but all the evidence so far points to her abduction and probable murder. Yet another case where a sex offender who was loose on the streets is the prime suspect and was arrested in this case. As long as we keep turning these creeps loose, this type of horrendous crime will continue.

Tearful sheriff doesn't sound good, like "being home" may mean her ordeal is now over. That's what I assume ..

How much longer will our nation allow sex ofenders to remain in our midst and to continue killing the innocents? Maybe it's a bit simplistic but to me it seems that sex offenders should be put to death - period. Our society ought not tolerate this abomination amongst us. Too much risk....just ask Dru Sjodin
