Mein Sheman es nich gut

Mein Ruski es bissle better

Mein Ukranian, even bissel better

However, language has never been a problem.

I have found, in my government-sponsored travels around the world, that when confronted by an enemy combatant, I can drastically improve their ability to understand me by pressing the large open of a Dr. Colt's Model 1911A1 hearing aid against their ear.

Perhaps it has something to do with the sound echoing up and down the barrel, but regardless, in situations such as that, they seem to have no difficulty understanding me.

My experience has been that indigenous compliance with my ever-so reasonable requests, delivered in soft, sweet, well-modulated and gently resonant tones has been excellent... or in the rare case of non-compliance, they never uttered a sound of complaint...

You should see some of the really bad boys... Sort of like the Stern Gang types from '48
