Iraqi 'beaten to death' by US troops

AN Iraqi has died of his wounds after US troops beat him with truncheons because he refused to remove a picture of wanted Shiite Muslim leader Moqtada Sadr from his car, police said today.

The motorist was stopped late yesterday by US troops conducting search operations on a street in the centre of the central city of Kut, Lieutenant Mohamad Abdel Abbas said.

After the man refused to remove Sadr's picture from his car, the soldiers forced him out of the vehicle and started beating him with truncheons, he said.

US troops also detained from the same area five men wearing black pants and shirts, the usual attire of Sadr's Mehdi Army militiamen and followers.

Qassem Hassan, the director of Kut general hospital, identified the man as Salem Hassan, a resident of a Kut suburb.

He said the man had died of wounds sustained in the beating.

A spokesman for the US-led coalition could not confirm the incident.

And, of course, the article is from the French Press, too. We know how unerringly they report the Gospel truth.

What we have here is an Australian news agency, printing a story by the French Press, quoting unsubstantiated comments from an Iraqi militant, Lieutenant Mohamad Abdel Abbas.

In other words, pure enemy propaganda.

It's hardly worthwhile to post articles from Agence France-Presse..

They have become very "unimpressive" when it comes to reporting the FULL TRUTH...

Too bad .... don't expect any sympathy after his ideological islamikazi brothers killed, burned, hung on a bridge, mutilated and FED to DOGS 4 americans that were trying to help them.

I could have swore this was coming out of the John F****** Kerry headquarters from 1971.

Isn't this what he was accusing his band of brothers of doing in that year.

I don't know I was one of the accused's at the time.

If this story is true, I'm more concerned that our soldiers are going against terrorists armed with assault rifles, rpgs, rocket launchers, etc.. with sticks? than I am about this dead thug.

Exactly, and there is always the possibility that "US troops" include Iraqi policemen to whomever made this claim. And Iraqi police might have nightsticks.

Utter nonsense. Jeesh.

Read this post from a contractor in Iraq to learn how our troops are treating Iraqis.

There was a picture sent around the Internet by CAIR the other day claiming that an American soldier posed with two smiling Iraqi children while one of kids held a makeshift sign reading in English "LCpl So-and-So killed my father and knocked-up my sister." CAIR was outraged at the beastliness of American troops to mock the children so callously. Turned out that the photo had been altered by image editing software, and the sign actually read in the original photo (which was available for inspection), "LCpl So-and-So protected my father and rescued my sister."

No doubt the above report of soldiers beating to death an unarmed man for possession of a photo will prove to be just as absurd an insult to the American armed forces in Iraq.

Oh man -- I'm honked-off about this.

When I joined the service we were never issued truncheons. We got second rate crap like riot batons. Now our guys are getting the good gear, and I'm not over there to try out the good stuff.
