Rush: Gorelick Quietly Asked By Kean To Resign!
Rush Limbaugh Radio Show ^ | 4/16/04 | LS

Posted on 04/16/2004 10:30:35 AM PDT by LS

According to an article Rush just read, Jamie Gorelick was quietly asked by Commission Chairman Thomas Kean to resign from the 9/11 commission due to conflict of interest. According to an unnamed staffer, she refused. Should we start a poll on how long she lasts?

I voted 'no' in JimRob's poll. Gorelick will turn out to be a hostile witness. And NOT in the way Daschle, hillary, i42, Mc Awful, etc. had hoped. Probably discredit the commission's results in the eyes of most Americans.

I just saw Anna Quinlan on CNN. She calls the Move0n.org wives, "...the true heroes of the Commission". She identifies them as "The Jersey Girls" (puke). CNN stooge Aaron Brown beamed.

I knew there was a reason why I stopped watching CNN. Sounds like it was a real live industrial strength puke-a-rama.

I don't think that Dorothy Rabinowitz coined the phrase "Jersey Girls", but she brought it to the forefront when she pretty much eviscerated these sanctimonious little tools for ANSWER and MoveOn in the WSJ the other day.

Check it out here.

Could the crashing and burning of the credibility of the 9/11 commission have been prevented?

Yeah, if they'd have done their job in a responsible manner. They could, for instance, have refused to let Clarke use a public appearance before the Commission as part of his author's publicity tour. Instead Commission members disgustingly held up copies of his book!

Sad as the whole spectacle is, there is also a satisfying sense of justice wrt the outcome so far. Every hit the Commission has taken to it's credibility stems from the Commissions members' own irresponsible decisions and behavior.

By God, Ashcroft hit them HARD! Two major bombshells: the Gorelick memo, and the revelation that Richard Clarke had never informed the Bush administration about the after action assessments of the millennium plot, nor passed along his report. And that followed Janet Reno's refusal (despite desperate prodding) to attribute the exposure of the millennium plot to the Clinton admin and Richard Clarke "pulsing" the intelligence agencies, instead confirming Condi's assertion that it was only due to an alert border guard (who, however, was not on formal alert).

Once again the 'Rats have overreached, and paid for it. The facade of their "blame Bush" edifice began cracking almost immediately after it was proudly unveiled with Clarke's appearance on 60 Minutes, and now Ashcroft has kicked the scaffolding into a pile of matchsticks. AND, in the process, the finger of blame the 'Rats attempted to point at Bush is turning back on Clinton. AND, in order to execute their failed scheme, the 'Rats had to effectively abandon or mute their opposition to the Patriot Act, preemption and other tough measures. AND, in order to claim that Bush should have acted sooner and more forcefully, they have had to implicitly concede that the things he did after 911 were justified and fundamentally right. (Of course they still don't include Iraq, but their retreat on other issues makes their opposition there appear more opportunistic and inconsistent.)

It would have been better for the country if the 'Rats had behaved responsibly and not attempted to politicize the WOT, 911, and the Commission. But given that they did it's working out quite satisfactorily on the whole.

The 'Rats are basically shoveling shit in a wind-tunnel. They're trying to cover Bush in it, but it's all blowing back on them. Still, they don't know how to do anything else.

'Rats have been addicted to scandal for thirty years. In 1974, in the wake of Watergate, they had one of their most successful congressional campaigns (including a huge influx of extreme left ideologues), and this only two years after their presidential candidate had received an unequivocal electoral drubbing. They've depended on manufacturing "-gates" ever since. They've moved so far out of the ideological mainstream that they can't win majorities any other way.

Brilliant analysis.

As Reagan would say "Facts are stubborn things".

Now the media will cover the DNC retreat by demanding that the 'politicization' of the commission cease.

Just watch.

I was wrong regarding Orrin Hatch, But I am right with regard to the gullibility of the GOP leadership, which has let the Democrats walk all over them, at least since the fall of Newt Gingrich. Here is wisdom: "Nice guys still finish last." (Leo Durocher) "There is no substitute for victory." (Douglas MacArthur)

Every bit of material she wrote should be scrutinized. IMO Gorelick is the trigger of the "smoking gun". Hey I like that....now I've got a new tag line.

I wanted to send a quick note in support of Senator Hatch. Your comments are way out of line. His support of Commissioner Gorelick is fair, just, and just the type of tone that we need to see at this time of contention. I think that Senator Hatch has been one of the most effective Senators that we have had and that as a party, we Republicans should be quite proud of his service. In short, we need more men like Orrin Hatch in this party of ours. Thanks for your time.

Sincerely

Arlen Specter

Senator Specter, What the heck did you say? Mr. Hatch says that he hopes she does the right thing, which is resign, in my eyes, but he doesn't say that. So what are you saying??? The female dog needs to resign and testify. Is that clear enough for both you and Mr. Hatch???

This would be huge -- 911 Commission Political Platform shut down, 911 glued to the Clinton legacy (where it belongs) by the event... And all this I didn't think the commission was capable of getting to the truth..

If anything, I think that regardless of what happens from here on out, the 'Rats will be as comfortable in that sandbox anymore...

That was a very polite call for resignation by Hatch. Read it again.

This is the second time I've seen that quote posted under a misleading headline. It got the same initial reaction both times.

It is exactly what you say it is. A polite call for or resignation. A "nudge", as another poster said.

Read carefully before you attack your own, folks.

Yes, that day of testimony had some punch in it! Most of all I think the Gorelick directive was a torpedo amidships; the ship is taking on water and starting to list. The more we learn about her the more absurd her absence from the witness chair becomes. By the time it's over I think the question will be why she's not in an orange jump suit, if the politicization of the FBI investigations of OKC, TWA800, and Richard Jewel can be proven.

Richard Clarke not telling Bush about the 6-year-old Islamacist kamakazee idea just about zeroes out his claim that Bush should have figured out anything - and of course Reno let the air out of the life preserver when she confirmed that the agents in the field never got the word that they should be on alert for the milennium bomb plotter. Clarke is a real joke - people will be suing for a refund on his book before it's over. They should be suing the Democrat comissioners for false advertising of it!

Do you think Fox News Channel will be picking up more market share? People are bound to catch a clue that "the news that's fit to print" isn't all in the The NY Times.

I'm beginning to wonder what mental illness afflicts so many Republican members of Congress.

Nicely put.
Was she secretly appointed to this kangaroo court? No. Wouldn't that have been the perfect opportunity to say no Gorelick?

The stupid party knew who she was in advance and then they were surprised when she acted like a partisan hack?

Mental illness? No, just abject stupidity on the part of the republicans.

Kean has as much admitted that she is "such a hard worker" on the committee, which really translates to these Rino
pu- -ys have relied upon her to read the documents and tell them what they say. Even Lehman has supported her and opposed her leaving the commission. Says all you need. Who appointed these people to the commission?
