Rush: Gorelick Quietly Asked By Kean To Resign!

According to an article Rush just read, Jamie Gorelick was quietly asked by Commission Chairman Thomas Kean to resign from the 9/11 commission due to conflict of interest. According to an unnamed staffer, she refused. Should we start a poll on how long she lasts?

I agree with everything you say---but if you go to Dem websites, you find they think we are the only partisans in the world, and that people like Hatch are "hacks" and "Bush-yes-men." Go figure.

Look, it's obvious to anyone that the "commission" is just a collection of polar, party hacks but Bush could have turned the tables on these folks if only he had the guts to. Hell, it was Dick Clarke himself who gave Bush the way out of this mess.

Imagine this, okay? Instead of Condi Rice coming to testify, Bush himself strides into the room and announces that he's not going to let them drill away at Condi. Instead, Bush himself will be placed under oath and testify in public right now. Now, Dick Clarke stated, under oath, that "when you run around with your hair on fire...and there are only 35 dead Americans over 8 years...people tend to think you're crazy".

All Bush had to say was "Yeah...we thought the guy was crazy!"

End of story.

Game over and win reelection in a landslide. (BTW: I'm not even a Bush fan)

both Kean and fellow commissioner, former Sen. Slade Gorton are taking heat from 9/11 families for telling critics during TV interviews to stay "out of our business."

As ticked off as that comment made me and millions of other Americans, I can't even imagine how it must have angered the 9/11 families.

I can't stand Hatch, I just pointed out that this is not defending Gore-like:

"I trust she will do the right thing regarding any conflict of interest or appearance of conflict of interest regarding her continuing service on the 9/11 commission."

I read it that he expects her to "do the right thing" and resign. Especially since he even mentioned "appearance of conflict of interest" as an issue. We don't need to be wasting bandwidth and energy blasting people like Hatch when there are people really defending Gore-like.

I think Gorelick's a worthless piece of Clinton, like everyone else here, but I also think that having her stay on the Commission has an advantage or two.

I agree, but I think we have to keep calling for her ouster. Otherwise, the people who get their news in five minute doses will forget about this. The longer this goes on, the better. More and more people every day are having their eyes opened about this commission.

Look, Hatch has done some things I don't like, but the quote you posted says the opposite of what you imply. He said he trusts she will do the right thing. That means he trusts she will resign.

In context, you can read the whole article and come up with your conclusion.

The article mentions that Sensenbrenner asked for Gorelick's resignation. Then a Congressional staff is quoted as saying that other Congressmen share Sensenbrenner's outrage.

Finally, the reporter moves to Hatch:

One top Republican aide on Capitol Hill said many Republicans share Mr. Sensenbrenner's concerns about Ms. Gorelick. However, the staffer said, he didn't expect them to express much outrage over the situation until they return next week after a recess.

Sen. Orrin G. Hatch, Utah Republican, who is Mr. Sensenbrenner's counterpart in the Senate, defended Ms. Gorelick.

"I know and respect Jamie Gorelick," he said. "I trust she will do the right thing regarding any conflict of interest or appearance of conflict of interest regarding her continuing service on the 9/11 commission."

You take it that Hatch trusts she will resign, but at least you might consider that Hatch has not called for Gorelick's resignation in the explicit language used by Sensenbrenner.

The President stands on his convictions and faces the entire world and what do these pantywaisted, sniveling little wimps do? They act like French mamma's boys...give in to the bullies so they won't attack me...WAAA!
