PORN ACTOR'S HIV INFECTION FREEZES ADULT FILMING
China View ^ | 16 April 2004 | Editors

BEIJING, April 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Filming in California's multi-billion-dollar porn industry has been frozen after a popular actor tested positive for the virus that causes AIDS.

Porn actor Darren James tested positive for HIV this week in screening conducted routinely on the industry's 1,200 regular actors.

Industry advocates immediately called for a 60-day moratorium on filming so that others could be tested.

The Los Angeles-based industry normally completes three to four adult films a day.

It must now wait to see if the deadly virus has spread to 14 actresses who had onscreen sex with James, or to the 35 sex partners the women subsequently had.

I am having a hard time reading through this thread, because of the bitterness on it. But here's my one post on this topic; and it is not directed at any one person:

How about if, instead of being glad that some human beings may have a fatal illness, we pray for them.

Sure, people who work in the porn industry are caught up in the "flesh," in material things, but that doesn't mean they are not trying to reach for more. We have no idea who these people are or what battles they are fighting.

Jesus Christ would not have rejoiced at people getting sick. He asked us to forgive, to love each other. How about if we listen to His message, instead of condemning people?

You can run, but you cannot hide.

Do not be deceived. God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that will he also reap.

If you sow to the flesh, you will reap destruction. If you sow to the Spirit, you will reap eternal life.

"It certainly isn't the God of the Bible ... the one who called down fire upon Sodom and Gomorrah, the one who told Moses to "mow down the Amalekites with the edge of the sword," the one whose prophet Elijah took the priests of Baal "down to the wadi Kishon, and there slit their throats," the one who told the Pharisees "you are of your father, the devil", and the one who foretold the utter desolation of Jerusalem."
______________________________________________
The above doesn't exactly jive with "love thy neighbor as thyself" and "turn the other cheek" does it? There are so many contradictions in the bible it is impossible to folow all the "rules". The book of Leviticus is filled with severe punishments for things which are today seen as benign, such as eating shellfish. I happen to love shellfish. Does this mean I am bound to spend eternity with Satan and his imps?

I don't believe that a just, benevolent and loving God would deliberately kill Darren James via AIDS. Why would he single him out? Nor do I believe that a just, benevolent and loving God would put in front of mankind a thing as pleasurable as sex and expect us not to indulge in that pleasure. Of course, from a human standpoint, one should practice moderation in all things as a matter of course.

What I do believe is that the bible is the inspired word of God, but was written and translated by earthly men who are by God's design, sinful. In some cases these men were undoubtedly and unavoidably guided by agendas of their own and of their governmental and spritual leaders of the time. Some seem to have a belief that, when it comes to the writing and translation of the Holy Bible, all was perfect and pristine. I believe that the bible is as fallible as the sinful beings who wrote and translated it. I have taken from my religious training the message that to receive eternal life one must be good to one's fellow man.

I believe that one day I will stand alone before the throne of the Lord and answer for my deeds on this earth. I think I'm doing okay in that regard. But if God is so vindictive and spiteful as to deliberately bait mankind into a myriad of sins under the guise of seeing how we resist temptation, then I'll need to have a word with Him before He sends me downstairs.

"Christian charity never ceases to amaze me."

Cut the crap.

Besides wanting to hear a few "Oh, how terribly tragic," just how many taxpayer billions and further skyrocketing health costs would you like pumped into the porn "industry"?

Or are you cringing at Iraqi terrorist casualties as well??

"Not just immoral but unnatural as well. You really wouldn't see promiscuity to that kind of extent in any of the mammals. It's always been a disease spreading lifestyle --- there isn't much new with HIV."

Are birds mammals? I have forgotten. The reason I ask is because it is Wild Turkey hunting season in my neck of the woods. In doing some reading on the habits of wild turkeys, I learned that turkey hens will mate with as many toms as possible during their breeding season. Even after the hen has been successfully impregnated she will continue to mate until the males are no longer receptive of until she lays her eggs, whichever comes first.

Just an observation. As for health care costs, the same could be said of government regulation of fast food, smoking, etc. Apparently freedom of choice means nothing as long as some sort of health care costs can be attached.

Do you say the same thing when people get SARS or smallpox or ebola or malaria or any number of other diseases caused by microorganisms?

I don't because those diseases are not caused by risky behavior.

Funny how all the AIDS activists/pacifiers keep calling for more federal funding to cure the only disease that can be eliminated simply by behavior modification.......

Tell me you'll start keeping your pecker in YOUR OWN Pants and I might start to sympathize with you........

"I agree with Sakic. Rejoicing at the diagnosis of a deadly disease is not a very Christian or charitable thing to do."

Firstly, just let me say, la-di-freakin' da! Sakic, eh? The one and only who has a personal vested interest in the porn "industry."

Should we instead be cheering and toasting a porn industry that corrupts and helps doom the human soul?

Yeah -- I guess that's much more "charitable."

perhaps he is merely rejoicing at God's divine intervention........

is there something wrong with praising the works of the Lord?

Turkeys aren't mammals but even then it sounds like all that sex is only for the purpose of reproduction.

Oh??

Has the U.S. government matched its $15b AIDS aid package to Africa with another $15b for a supposed American overeating and smoking epidemic?

I think that's the real reason we're supposed to feel so much pity and sorrow and "compassion". Today "compassion" means money --- prepare to pay for the expensive medicines they will believe they are entitled to have. Keep in mind they can't "work" --- they can't star in porn films so they won't be doing anything else to pay their own way or buy their own health care.

I would say the porn industry is an extension of the human soul, not an outside influence upon it.

All ye imparting your thoughts here this day, can you truthfully say that you have never looked with lust upon a scantily-clad and jiggly member of the opposite sex strolling the boardwalk on a sunny summer day? For if you have looked upon another with lust in your heart then you have comitted adultery.

Let him who is without sin cast the first stone. (Cue the sound of many stones thudding upon the ground amid the sounds of a small crowd muttering, turning and walking away.)

Your post makes no sense. The people you mentioned were persecuted by religious intolerance(btw if you are speaking of Hitler regarding Jews, Hitler was most certainly not Christian even if he had roots there);this male porn star inflicted this evil on himself. Nobody put a needle to his arm with tainted blood in retribution for his sin or anything--he incurred the virus all on his own.

God have mercy on him is all I can say. I hope that instead of self-destructing more this man walks into the light and out of this evil. Hopefully there will be some good not only with his own turning away from this lifestyle, but perhaps some of his coworkers will too. my guess is that is what many of the posters meant. That this man's sin and now consequence of that sin will somehow bring about some good. What good is sinful consequence if we can't learn lessons from it and hope that now the worst has happen, something good can come from a bad situation?

Agreed, this is what I hope as well. That there will be something good to come out of something so terrible.
