ROME, April 15 (Reuters) - An Italian hostage shot dead in Iraq tried to look his killers in the eye and died like a hero, Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said on Thursday. Frattini told reporters that Fabrizio Quattrocchi, one of four Italian security guards abducted outside Baghdad, was hooded when his kidnappers put a gun to his head.
"When the murderers were pointing a pistol at him, this man tried to take off his hood and shouted: 'Now I'm going to show you how an Italian dies'. And they killed him," Frattini said.
"He died a hero."
Quattrocchi's kidnappers handed over a tape of the killing to the Arab news channel al Jazeera which refused to broadcast the scene, saying it was too bloody. However, an Italian diplomat viewed the tape and relayed the details to Rome.
Quattrocchi left for Iraq in November to work as a security guard. The 36-year-old, who was specially trained to guard oil pipelines, was earning up to 10,000 euros ($12,500) a month and saving to buy a house with his fiancee, Italian media said.
But until his kidnapping, his mother thought the former baker was working in Kosovo.
His kidnappers, a previously unheard of group, threatened to kill the other three Italian hostages if Italy does not withdraw its troops from Iraq and its support from the United States.
Rome has rejected bowing to such pressure.

'Now I'm going to show you how an Italian dies', and the islamists showed the world how 'the religion of peace' values life.

Sounds like he was ex-military, either Alpini or Bersaglieri. The Germans and Austrians, and the allies, who had contempt for most of the Italian military, were always very clear the Alpini and Bersaglieri were first class soldiers. American officers I know who spent time with the various European mountain troops in the '60s and '70s have consistently said they thought the Alpini were the best in Europe.

Murdering pigs. I've been waiting for over 20 years for this country to take Islam seriously. But, when we do start to act, we hear how "peaceful" Islam is and how we are trying to help "the majority of moderate muslims," then, we run this PC action replete with ceasefires and the belief that most Islamatics support us, and that we are up against "a few terrorists," who do not practice Islam correctly. Not only does ALL of Islam not support us, they do not appreciate anything we've done for them, they do not speak out against the "few terrorists," either in Iraq or in THIS country (in fact: they dance upon our deaths), and they won't stand up for themselves, even while brave people from civilized countries try to better them. Until we realize that we are at war with Islam itself, our nation, our troops and the entire world will languish in this continuous and ongoing murder binge perpetrated by a failed civilization that insists on being a wart on the butt of mankind. Prayers for yet another brave victim of murdering Islamatics.

Bump for a real man.
I would suggest putting the Italian troops next to our marines around Najaf or Fallujah and raze it to the ground. It's the only thing those animals understand.

He did. He said, more precisely, "Adesso vi faccio vedere come sa morire un italian." Translated: Now I will show you how an Italian knows how to die!"
(I was formerly head of Italian interpreters for the SDNY, and most other Federal Agencies).
He was Sicilian, living in Genova,35 years old,and martial arts expert.
