"Ride of the Valkyries" is Air Cav music, not beach music.

Huh. Was driving around last weekend with the "ride" on full blast. Didn't hit no one, neither.

I can see the morning commute now...

click me - 113K

Kilgore: "We'll come in low out of the rising sun and about a mile out we'll put on the music."

Lance: "Music?"

Kilgore: Yah. I use Wagner. It scares the hell out of the Slopes."

LOL. That and pretty much anything by Motorhead. Was playing "Ace of Spades" once, coming up I-95 late at night, and caught the needle on the wrong side of 80. :)

Whenever the guitar solo comes on I need to put the cruise control on or I turn into a Highway Star. I'll be listening to it on my way to class this a.m. .

Red Barchetta ping! (But La Villa Strangiato is better driving music, IMO.)

Another suggestion: the Back to the Future theme.
I doubt the sherrif will take kindly to your excuse of attempting to hit 88 so you can go back in time. :P

For me, it's from "The Magic Flute" ... "Der Hoelle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen" sung by The Queen of the Night (Kiri Te Kanawa).

I also have my computer set up to play "Ride of the Valkyries" when it boots up and "Der Hoelle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen" when it shuts down.

Needless to say, my co-workers look at me rather strangely ...

I have to be careful with Allman Brothers instrumentals and the jam at the end of "Freebird". Beethoven's ninth gets me going, but I imagine that some people think that I am strange for singing along (in German, of course). I'll have to try Carmina Burana on some of the twisties, although it is really battle music for me. I have a tape of the final battle scene from Excalibur that we used to play as we clobbered each other with sock clubs. If you heard "They won't know how few we are in the fog!" you knew that you had better arm yourself or run, because you were about to get attacked.

Der Tannheuser is my favorite (it was the romantic opera cartoon with Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd: "Whadya expect for an opera, a HAPPY ending?")

I have a friend who shares a mutual affection for Enya. But he says he dare not listen while driving because it would cause him to fall asleep at the wheel!

"If there were elevator music in Heaven...it would be playing Enya..."
