Within the last couple of days, when I goto WWW.FREEREPUBLIC.COM, it takes me to Front Page News instead of the home page. Now I have to goto WWW.FREEREPUBLIC.COM/HOME.HTM to get to the home page. It is doing this on 3 different PC's at home and work. Does anyone know what is happening? I looked at my profile/account to see if there was some setting there that could be redirecting me there. Thanks in advance...

Sounds like you've been hit with one of those viruses that allows someone to enter your computer and change things.

OK I thought I was going nuts.
What is home page?
How does on get to the preferences?
I hate it when that happens.
To: Coroner
Sounds like someone hacked your registry files.
you running spybot S&D ? it can deal with stuff
like that.
I had a problem last week and Ad-aware wasn't able to
catch it but SB S&D fixed it.

Jim responded to this on another thread yesterday...
"I thought it would be better to present our front page news topic on our opening page rather than the FR home page info that was there before.
The old home page is still available. You can get to it by clicking on the "Free Republic" link at the top left of any of the "Latest" pages.
Also, those who would rather use the old home page as the opening page for FR can use this bookmark:
http://www.freerepublic.com/home.htm Thanks,
Jim"

Well, you're just the one to put this forward. Thanks for the balls. Ithought I was doing something wrong and was afraid to speak. Must be hubbie's influence on me (he's a Jarhead from Iwo).

I bookmarked that as well.
Somehow though..if you bookmark the new one..it works.
The reason this bothers me is because I have gotten used to bringing up the breaking news through my favorites.
I then check the "my comments" box.
Then out of habit..I click Free Republic home page.
Once at the home page, I click on latest posts.

This is probably in reaction to the flood of media requests to pull fully-replicated articles from the site. This makes it look like much more of a news site and less of an activist site.
