Let's add a little perspective to this.
Al Qaeda killers are told from the time they are children, that they will go to heaven and be with 70 virgins in paradise, if they die while killing Americans.
US soldiers are told, from the time they are children, that the hard and dangerous work they do in war is wrong and that any fight to help others achieve freedom from evil dictators is wrong... consistently by Democratic elected leaders in the US.
Which do you think inspires the fighters, on both sides, the most?
