We here in the NY tri-state have a more intimate recollection of that day as do those in DC and PA. This is not to infer that ALL of the country was not attacked that day of course. You're right - we were all attacked. It upsets me no end when I read that people outside the NY-DC-PA area weren't affected. Many people all over the country had relatives or friends in the WTC or the Pentagon.
My own beloved son-in-law was at the Pentagon on that terrible day. My daughter was at work in Alexandria and had heard about the WTC, then heard the explosion and saw the smoke at the Pentagon. She didn't know whether he was dead or alive. Luckily he was not in the area where the plane crashed.
I was out here on the Left Coast, watching in horror with my co-workers. I work on a military installation, and we immediately went to Threat Protection Delta - this is the condition we go to when we're under attack.

"The FBI checked a variety of databases for information on the Bin Ladin flight passengers and searched the aircraft. It is unclear whether the TIPOFF terrorist watchlist was checked. At our request, the Terrorist Screening Center has rechecked the names of individuals on the flight manifests of these six Saudi flights against the current TIPOFF watchlist. There are no matches. The FBI has concluded that nobody was allowed to depart on these six flights who the FBI wanted to interview in connection with the 9/11 attacks, or who the FBI later concluded had any involvement in those attacks. To date, we have uncovered no evidence to contradict this conclusion."

There were six flights? I thought that they were all flown to a central place -- Tennessee comes to mind -- and then flown out of the company.
I will have to reread the article in Vanity Fair.
BTW, do you remember Richard Clarke saying HE personally approved that/those flight(s)?

Exactly. People all over the country experienced pain as they realized that all Americans were under attack.
My own worst recollections were the sight of the mushroom cloud I saw from the Tappan Zee Bridge as the second tower fell and the sight of the many cars still in commuter parking lots days after 9/11 that would never be returned to by their drivers.

Out here in Indiana, we had NG or law enforcement at almost every interstate overpass watching. It scared me, let me tell you.

So, Thomas Pickard was wrong, sort of, about the FBI probes mentioned in the Aug.6 memo? Instead of 70, there were 67?

My fury now extends to Chrissy Matthews who is exploiting the ignorance of these wicked widows for his own purposes.
When they are no longer useful to his agenda they will be thrown in the trashbin....where they belong.
