I've never received a response from a telephone call or email, but I get a hand-signed letter on stationery when I rifle off a letter.

I would venture a guess that if you offered them a trade of the money they received in exchange for the return of physical like of their loves one, you would be hard pressed to assume the answer.

Believe me, everyone, letters and postcards work. Petitions are fine, but individual, letters or postcards influence pols as nothing else does. Each letter means more than one vote to them - it represents the sphere of influence the letter writer has.

Another benefit is that the reply you receive sometimes directs you to someone with more influence or direct responsibility for the subject of your letter/postcard.

One tip: let them know you are awaiting a prompt response. :)

I will state the obvious. Freepers are prescient. Someone even mentioned anthrax. How scary is that?

I didn't know about the family member on LKL, I tend to boycott CNN at all costs. Glad to hear it though.

Seems to me the families that support Bush or who do not blame him for 9-11 are getting virtually NO media attention. Could be wrong though, it's been known to happen.

I too was turned off by the families who wanted more then offered for the attacks.

I don't remember OKC family members, Embassy members, Cole family members etc being offered millions of dollars then demanding more.

I've been listening to Rush since I heard about this but so far I haven't caught him commenting on the ad.

I hope he has sources for this, while I have my doubts anything would happen, I'd still love to see move-on and Soro's rear-ends slammed.

WASHINGTON (AP) - House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Sensenbrenner called on Jamie Gorelick to resign from the Sept. 11 commission Wednesday, citing a memo she wrote as a deputy attorney general on separating counterintelligence from criminal investigations. "Scrutiny of this policy lies at the heart of the commission's work," said Sensenbrenner, R-Wis. "Ms. Gorelick has an inherent conflict of interest as the author of this memo and as a government official at the center of the events in questions."

Since you apparently can't figure out why Tenet was retained, I will explain the facts of life to you.

Rather presumptuous of you, don't you think? I have firsthand knowledge of how the Agency and the bureaucracy works. Tenet was retained by GWB because he was a known quantity based more than likely on his father's recommendation. I doubt if Tenet would still be in charge if it weren't for the events of 9/11.

DCI and the FBI heads are not supposed to be Political in order to allow continuity in security matters;

Unlike many CIA directors, Tenet was neither a career CIA official nor a prominent business, military or political figure. In fact, Tenet was very political. He was a Senate staffer for Leahy and Boren and was able to finagle his way on to the Senate Intelligence Committtee. You can clearly see how all this experience would prepare a man for intelligence work. The only active verb to be found anywhere on Tenet's resume was "kiss" and the only subject for that verb was "ass." This particular specialty would, in the final analysis, vault him to the top.

DCI is ALWAYS a bureaucrat. Some work their way up the bureacracy ala Dulles, McCone, Helms, Woolsey, Colby others come up through the military bureaucracy: Turner, Walters, Smith.

Not so. First of all, Walters was never confirmed as the Director. He was acting DCI for a few months. Directors who did not come up through the civilian or military bureaucracy include Schlesinger, John McCone, George HW Bush, Bill Casey, Bill Webster, James Woolsey, and John Deutch. Of all the DCIs Tenet has the least impressive resume. He has never run anything except a Senate staff. Placing this bureaucrat in charge of a global organization with a multi-billion dollar budget is a joke.

Sorry to disabuse you of the notion that James Bond types wind up in the Director's office.

I am under no illusion of the types that occupy the DCI's office. I have met a few and I know they are no James Bonds.
