Gorelick-GATE: Clinton to blame for intelligence failures
Townhall ^ | April 13, 2004 | Jonah Goldberg

Yes, "everyone" is to blame for 9/11. "Everyone" is also to blame for the outrageous, silly and counterproductive nonsense coming out of the 9/11 commission's quest to assign blame.

Let's take the second point first. Bush made a strategic blunder by essentially insisting he would not do anything differently if he could relive the pre-9/11 months over again. This is not only obvious nonsense, it's politically dumb.

But I am 100 percent sure that the folks at The New York Times editorial board would have snapped their pencils in rage if the president had suggested increased "profiling" of passengers in August 2001. -Jonah Goldberg

Great Gorelick-gate article. Thanks for posting it.

I've used Smartass' link to let the commission know "Gorelick the Derelict" should testify publicly, under oath, like all the others.

I wonder if she is sleeping well tonight.

Corrupt Democrat obstructing the 911 Commission:
"We Democrats own the Commission.
We Democrats own the schools and universities and the unions.
We Democrats own the media.
We Democrats even control the vote of the dead.
You bet that I personally dared refuse repeat DOJ requests for investigations of dangerous illegal aliens.
and I even personally arranged to stovepipe intelligence to make intraagency effective communication useless.
I even arranged for the illegal aliens who were felons to be voters for our Democratic party.
Ha. We even have John Aschroft's and each and every RINO's FBI file on our home and DNC computers.
So what are you wusses dare gonna do about it? Nothing. Now sit down
"

PARTIAL LIST OF TERRORIST ACTIVITIES IGNORED BY GORELICK, CLARKE and CLINTON

1993 Attempted Assassination of Pres. Bush Sr., April 14,1993
1993 First World Trade Center bombing, February 26th, 7 Killed, Hundreds injured, Billions
1995 Attack on US Diplomats in Pakistan, Mar 8,1995
1996 Khobar Towers attack

1998 U.S. Kenya Embassy blown up, 100's murdered
1998 U.S. Tanzania Embassy blown up, 100's murdered
1999 Plot to blow up Space Needle (thwarted)
2000 USS Cole attacked, many U.S. Navy sailors murdered

AMERICANS DEMAND AN INDEPENDENT 911 COMMISSION

YOU GOTTA FREEP THIS - Gorlick made the interagency Intel wall AND refused attempts by the DOJ to investigate aliens
yet NOW she "guards the guardians". This is corrupt.

BREAKING: Ashcroft has declassified a report Gorelick wrote several years ago
that established the wall that protects against Intel. agencies sharing information.
Background 911 Threads

TWO DAYS AGO

"Back in September 1994, I recommended to Deputy Attorney General Jamie Gorelick
that the DoJ strengthen investigative powers against suspected 'undesirable aliens,' accelerating
deportation appeal proceedings and limiting U.S. participation in a visa waiver pilot program under which 9.5 million foreigners entered the U.S. in 1994."

[Former FBI Director Louis Freeh]

GORELICK SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE COMMISSION NOW
OR A WARNING LABEL HERALDING THE WILLFUL IMPROPRIETY SHOULD BE ON THE COVER

Making a mockery of justice, Jamie Gorelick,
1) who established the wall that protects against Intel.agencies sharing information
that created the 911 Atrocites, and

2) who REFUSED to take Former FBI Director Louis Freeh's
recommendation now Judges what happened. Isn't that special?

FREEP: Phone Commission at 202-331-4060
Email Commission at info@9-11commission.gov
put Thomas Kean in the subject line.

DEMAND THAT GORELICK BE REMOVED! FOR EITHER REASON #1 or #2 or both or other reasons suggested below.

DONT FORGET - PUT THOMAS KEAN IN THE SUBJECT LINE

An example: The New York Times editorialized this week, "No reasonable American blames Mr. Bush for the terrorist attacks, but that's a long way from thinking there was no other conceivable action he could have taken to prevent them."

The problem with the NY Times is that when they are wrong, they just write another editorial, from a new position and a new view of the world from 20/20 hindsight, that finds the republicans guilty each and every time. When leaders are wrong people die. Any serious person knows that the elephant in this room is a partisan press, more dedicated to the survival of democrats than the country.

Let us not forget that all the things that might have been done could not have been done, given the fact the press was still consumed with counting votes in Florida, trying to prove that Bush didn't win, when they should have been looking at the world in a serious way. And how can we forget the refrain: "he(Bush) has no mandate?" J'accuse you slimey press whores.

Gorelick Memo Declassified (Graphics of 4 page document)
National Review PDF ^ | April 13, 2004

Central point:

These procedures, which go beyond what is legally required, will prevent any risk of creating an unwarranted appearance that FISA is being used to avoid procedural safeguards which would apply in a criminal investigation.
. . . and all it cost was four airliners, the twin towers, a wing of the Pentagon, and three thousand lives.

Until Gorelick entirely recuses herself from the commission and testifies before it herself, the commission is finished. Until Gorelick is out this is not "The 911 Commission" but The Cover-up Commission.

I can understand that the existance of this memo gives the President a boost, however, this is nothing new!

Prohibitions on intelligence gathering on persons / organisations (including corporations) inside the United States began in the 70's (thanks is no small part to organsations like the VVAW of which a certain pretender to the presidency was a leading member).

Gorelicks memo is actually more of an attempt to clearly deliniate between law enforcement / intelligence gathering (for CI) so that any prosecutions would not be tainted. That this further complicated an already complex issue (gathering intelligence within the US).

This is nothing new and ALL of the politicians now it!

This blame game stuff is counterproductive and dangerous when Americans are fighting and dying in Iraq. But if that's the game we're stuck with, it's an indisputable scandal that the Clinton Administration is getting off scot-free.

1. Republicans did not start the "blame game". That was started by Democrats for political purposes to destroy President Bush.

2. Telling the truth is what is required here. If the truth indicts clinton and his scummy maladministration, so be it. That is not "finger-pointing". That is placing the blame where it lies and not allowing the blame to be placed on innocent parties for political purposes.

That is "fairness" - a concept which is supposedly enshrined in our culture as well as our laws. Slander and false accusations are detrimental to the innocent and those guilty of those sins should be pointed out for the scoundrels they are - especially when they are in the process of trying to color the outcome of an investigation into a problem in which their incompetence, fecklessness and questionable actions led to death and disaster on an unparalleled scale.
