Thoughts on the press conference

After watching the president last night at the press conference - at times slashing base hits just over the infield and at other times roping line drives in the gap and all during a pitching exhibition that featured nasty pitches with wicked movement and velocity - I suddenly understood just what it takes to successfully engage in argument with the conservative’s opposition. In fact, if I were part of that press core I’d have broken protocol at three different points during the press conference just to render my applause.

Here’s how I see it: the president gave all of us like-minded believers of conservative ideology a lesson in message sending. In order to not let our message get trampled during debate, we must discuss everything through the lenses of freedom and liberty. When we as conservative do this, we cannot lose in our arguments. We cannot be side tracked, taken on tangents, or even be tricked into false arguments when we maintain the message of freedom and liberty at the forefront of the debate.

For too long conservatives have been suckered into these traps, snares, and false arguments by their opposition. Last night our president demonstrated just how to stay on message despite being bombarded by weapons of mass distraction. I hope that we were all taking notes.

We must know that in the days to follow, many of those same press members that were present will label the president as a simpleton that cannot articulate his beliefs without saying the same things over and over again. Oh well! And you know what? These same people are really bothered by the fact that these messages of “peace and security through freedom and democracy” are the very messages that will lead to several more years of conservative leadership. So, in a nutshell, be a simpleton, be repetitive, be a pain in their backsides, and be a freedom loving winner. The last time I checked, the winners are not the losers!

You think President Bush is just like Gerald Ford?

No. I think he may lose the election to a candidate who is a lot like Jimmy Carter.

Maybe you missed the poll they were showing on Fox News. Kerry is ahead, 50% to 43%. (Margin of error +/- 3%.)

All this media bashing he's taking is having an effect.

Most voters do not think like Freepers. They don't care whether a candidate is honest or right. They are irrational.

This campaign is about stability in Iraq, continued prevention of terrorist attacks, and economic growth. Without that, Bush will lose no matter his honesty, and no matter his rectitude.

Life isn't fair; elections are less so.

BTW, I think he did okay in the press conference, but he did not hit a home run. He did not really connect with independent voters. His poll numbers should improve, though.

The best part of the news conference was when a reporter asked Bush about an apology for 9/11 from the President. President Bush replied something to the effect "I did not crash the plane into the building, Bin Laden was responsible".

No apology necessary on the part of THIS President!!!! CheckMate! It seemed like every reporter in the room was bent on creating the cover story that would be responsible for the destruction of President Bush. They all appeared to leave the room unsatisfied because they know their slant cannot sway intelligence.

In order for a Democrat to win, the voters must decide the war on terror is not worth the cost because the Democrats have made it clear, they will not fight it.

In order for a Democrat to win, the voters must decide that higher taxes, more government rules and regulatation, and more social programs are the answer to all of our problems since that is what the Democrats have promised.

I think you are wrong.

As for polls, there is only one poll that counts, and that is the one in November, the rest, well let us just say there are was to get the results you want.

I have more faith in the American people then you do, and I think President Bush will be re-elected.

Go ahead...have at me!

Naaa! Why would I do that?

;^)

You make good points. I would say he has said most of that many times over the last few months, most prominently in the State of the Union address. And although he could have said it again, I think it could have taken him off message.

I agree he fumbled the mistake question, but I also think he should not have made any concession whatsoever. The Iraqis, the terrorists and the terrorist sympathizers were watching closely. Any concession last night would have been viewed as weakness.

He can make any of those statements when the commission releases its bipartisan, totally unbiased and factually based report.
