Thoughts on the press conference

After watching the president last night at the press conference - at times slashing base hits just over the infield and at other times roping line drives in the gap and all during a pitching exhibition that featured nasty pitches with wicked movement and velocity - I suddenly understood just what it takes to successfully engage in argument with the conservatives opposition. In fact, if I were part of that press core Id have broken protocol at three different points during the press conference just to render my applause.
Heres how I see it: the president gave all of us like-minded believers of conservative ideology a lesson in message sending. In order to not let our message get trampled during debate, we must discuss everything through the lenses of freedom and liberty. When we as conservative do this, we cannot lose in our arguments. We cannot be side tracked, taken on tangents, or even be tricked into false arguments when we maintain the message of freedom and liberty at the forefront of the debate.
For too long conservatives have been suckered into these traps, snares, and false arguments by their opposition. Last night our president demonstrated just how to stay on message despite being bombarded by weapons of mass distraction. I hope that we were all taking notes.
We must know that in the days to follow, many of those same press members that were present will label the president as a simpleton that cannot articulate his beliefs without saying the same things over and over again. Oh well! And you know what? These same people are really bothered by the fact that these messages of peace and security through freedom and democracy are the very messages that will lead to several more years of conservative leadership. So, in a nutshell, be a simpleton, be repetitive, be a pain in their backsides, and be a freedom loving winner. The last time I checked, the winners are not the losers!

I especially liked the way the president tied the criticism of taking preemptive action in Iraq to the criticism of pre 9/11 failure to invade Afghanistan.

Agreed ! Bush was TOUGH and stayed on message.
His questioners were reading from an old rumpled Clintonite script and were begging for re-runs of the old "Mr. Bill Show." (Secret White House Blow Jobs, combined with public lip biting and apologies).
Great Job by President Bush!

Bush spoke his core beliefs, not as eloquently as Reagan because Dubya doesn't have a Hollywood background. He told the truth about his intentions, which is something no Democratic opponent would ever dare to do.
I did like the part when he said that democracy could be brought to the middle east. You could almost hear over 7000 fat Saudi princes loosing bowel control.:)
He'll win re-election, because he's honest, he's right, and Kerry is Clinton without the personality. And God knows, Mr. Bush.

Watched the whole Press Conference With the President talking about Iraq. We are so blessed to have a President like George W. Bush, who is sincere and courageous in his beliefs.
Proud to have him as my President. Proud to know he is in charge.

You are right. It was very difficult to keep from jumping up and cheering.
W's plan tonight was to reassure the country, which he did, connect all the dots, which he also did, and then allowed the liberal media to expose themselves to the American people in prime time, which it did.

Well stated and no arguments here. The only thing that might have helped is if he first cracked them with a 2x4 to get their attention. The media bitch about lack of news conferences that act like idiots when they get to one. They truly have no shame and it's downhill from there. :-(

Listening to President Bush tonight makes me proud to be a Republican, proud to be a Conservative and especially proud to be an American. Listening to John Kerry makes me proud that I'm not a democrat, proud that I'm not a liberal, and especially proud that I'm not French.

Staying on message is commendable, but sometimes I wish he would slap down the reporters for asking repetitive questions or stupid questions.

BUSH APOLOGIZES FOR 9/11 FAILURES
To: ex-Texan
And boy, did the lib press want GW to apologize for 9/11, to take the blame for the attack and 8 years of Clinton's mistakes and cowardice. They wanted it so bad...if they can hang it around GW's neck, they think Kerry will win the election. 'Forget Al Qaeda. Bush is to blame for everything.' Guess what. The press didn't get what they wanted.

IMHO this was one of Bush's finest hours. He showed compassion, strength, and unbelievable clarity in his mission to stay the course in the fight against terror.
Part of Bush's mission tonight was to send a message to Iraq, to our soldiers who fight, and to the families of those who have fallen that their sacrifice is not in vain. No one in their right mind should question his resolve again.
I got chills when Bush said freedom is not our gift to the world, it is the gift from the Almighty to the world. But it is our responsibility to help. (I don't remember his exact wording right now)
I am so very proud to call George W Bush my president and my American hero!
(I posted my opion in another thread, but some troll took over the other thread will some mean stupid stuff.)

Condi Rice, Louis Freeh, and John Ashcroft are the Quarterback's blockers. They paved the way for him the last few days so that he could throw a touchdown.
The surge of media criticism of Bush's pre-9/11 moves has been halted.
It has been found that Clinton was to blame for blocking intelligence sharing which largely caused 9/11.
Brilliant strategy the last few days...our team scored!

And boy, did the lib press want GW to apologize for 9/11.. Why can't the libs understand that we don't apoligize for being Americans?

The only thing that might have helped is if he first cracked them with a 2x4 to get their attentionIt takes more than that to get the attention of a trained Democratic pit bull, and at least 90+% of the Washington press corps vote Dem. It's the 'vast left-wing conspiracy', when you consider the White House reporters.

BUSH REFUSES TO APOLOGIZE FOR 911!

...I got chills when Bush said freedom is not our gift to the world, it is the gift from the Almighty to the world. But it is our responsibility to help... Me too! It even brought some tearing that I am not ashamed to admit. If you looked at the president closely he was on the verge of getting choked up himself before shifting his thought. But, he never lost his composure.

My hubby got chocked up too.
I love it when bush has these kind of press conferences because he reaches the most people. It is so clear that He has a good heart, and is doing the very best he can do.
No matter what the lib. polls say about him he does the right thing and is not swayed.
