RAMALLAH [MENL] -- The United States has determined that Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat approved an attack on a U.S. embassy convoy in which three Americans were killed in 2003. U.S. diplomatic sources said a U.S. investigation into the bombing of the embassy convoy in the Gaza Strip in October 2003 pointed to a clear role by Arafat.
The sources said Arafat granted approval to a plan to strike U.S. interests in PA areas. Arafat, the sources said, did not draft or approve any details for a Palestinian attack. But they said Arafat agreed to a proposal relayed by a high-level aide for the Palestinians to "pass a message" to the United States.
According to the sources, a senior Arafat aide and member of the Fatah Central Committee left Gaza City for Arafat's headquarters in Ramallah in September 2003 to seek approval for a Palestinian attack on U.S. interests in the area. The Fatah official, described as a liasion between Arafat and Palestinian insurgents in the Gaza Strip, complained of U.S. policy toward the PA and Arabs.

White House spokesman says the U.S. remains opposed to exiling or killing PA Chairman Arafat That must change. Right here. Right now. Arafat and his reign of terror should be terminated...with extreme prejudice.

They are heads of terrorist organizations, just like Arafat is, heading the Palestine Liberation Organization, just like Osama headed Al Queda.
Though I see similarities between Arafat and Mullah Omar as well, in terms of the kind of regime and the fact it harbors terrorists as well.
The US is just being hypocritical. They have called in the past for the capture or killing of terrorist leaders.

<< What fun it must be for Arafat to be treated like a dignitary and a king by the US as he plans suicide bombings and kills Israelis and Americans.
But this is big news. Bet he's really shakin' now. Now we really, really, REALLY know he's dirty. Maybe we'll send him to Iran. >>

If you don't want to believe that Arafat had a hand in this terror attack, that is your right. But you cannot deny that Arafat harbors, funds, leads, and supports terror groups which have murdered Americans as well as Israelis.
Israel is not asking anyone to do its bidding. It is asking for US support in its war against terrorism; when it comes to supporting the removal of a terrorist leader.
Arafat should have a bias against not only by Jews but also by Christians, and even Muslims who have been brought to "justice" by Arafat's armed gangs.
Christians are repressed and killed by the regime he heads, in addition to targeted in terror attacks.

"Israel can do what it needs to do. All it needs is US support, as the US is its only friend in the world. Arafat was practicing terror when Osama was in his teens."
Then Israel should assassinate him. It's time Israel stopped being selectively reliant on the U.S.. The U.S. has it's own world of trouble to deal with. It's not the fault of America that Israel has no friends. It also doesn't matter who's been practicing terror longer. It is the obligation of the U.S. to look out for itself first and that is why we are in Iraq. Israel will indirectly benefit with that success.
Arafat may have been terrorizing the Israelis for God knows how long but Bin Laden killed Americans. I would not base anything as factual from your Israel biased paper as "evidence". Frankly I think avenging the deaths of nearly 3,000 Americans and counting is a higher priority than a speculative case at best that Arafat killed 3 Americans.

FYI, the source of the report is MENL, a Canadian newswire concentrating on the Middle East linked above, not IMRA. They just printed the story, like the Washington Times did. How anyone interprets this story as Israel asking the US to off Arafat is beyond me.

Oh Yonif, please don't misunderstand me I am 100% behind taking everyone of these scumbags out. The Arabs hate us as it is, I say we dust every one of these "leaders" in one shot. Let the Arabs get real good and mad at us in one shot and then go on. Why we continue to dick around and worry about what is PC is beyond me.
If we're going to take it to them, then let's take it to them!!!!!

Yes he is a terrorist however his efforts are directed at Israel not the U.S.. He is a creep and corrupt ... I suspect because he offfers us lip service and we've got our hands full in Iraq he's not someone we're out to murder for the hell of it. The posters source is also not one to be trusted. Israel is looking for us to do their dirty work and create more havoc. We don't need that right now and especially when "evidence" is a tad suspect.
Israel just blew the head off some blind guy in a wheel chair that terrorized them. Well let them assassinate Arafat. What's the big deal? Why pretend to be helpless now?

He's been killing Americans for years, not the thread on Ambassador Noel in post 45. There's nothing particularly new here. Hizzbollah has killed hundreds more Americans than Arafat. They sojourn in Syria and Lebanon, between visits to Iraq, of course.

It is the obligation of the U.S. to look out for itself first and that is why we are in Iraq. Israel will indirectly benefit with that success. The terrorist threat Israel faces is the same terrorist threat the US faces. Every single terror group Israel fights against has in its agenda the murder of Americans. The US, if it wishes to stick to its principles, should support Israel's war on terrorism, when it comes specifically to the Palestinian Authority, of whom we have diplomatic relations with.
This is a war against all Islamic terrorism, not just who was responsible for 9/11. Al Queda is not the only terrorist group in the world which has murdered Americans. Every terrorist group must be targetted. Arafat and his terror groups have murdered dozens of Americans, not just these three. Remember the Hebrew University bombing in 2002? 5 Americans were murdered there. Of course Al Queda, by sure quantity of Americans murdered, should be a priority. No one is telling America to send troops to Gaza, as Israel is capable of doing what is needed.
It is not just about avenging the deaths, its also about making sure another attack like this doesn't happen. For that not just Al Queda is being fought by the US. Arafat and the Palestinian Authority, and those terror groups under him, are enemies of the United States, have no doubt.

Yonif you have provided NO evidence of that and a source that is VERY biased in favor of Israel. No one said Arafat is not a terrorist. He is a TERRORIST to ISRAEL not the U.S. but you don't want to acknowledge that.
"Israel is not asking anyone to do its bidding. It is asking for US support in its war against terrorism; when it comes to supporting the removal of a terrorist leader."
I can tell you one thing for sure the U.S. will NOT do its bidding. The war with Arafat is really between Israel and him. Surely Israel can murder another terrorist. Wasn't it Hamass that they blew off his head a week or so ago? The blind guy in a wheel chair, remember? Why can't Israel take care of this guy?
"Arafat should have a bias against not only by Jews but also by Christians, and even Muslims who have been brought to "justice" by Arafat's armed gangs."
Again, why can't Israel handle this problem? Alot of people don't like the people you mentioned. Arafat is small potatoes compared to Bin Laden and Saddam Insane.
"Christians are repressed and killed by the regime he heads, in addition to targeted in terror attacks."
Don't goad me with that ... this is a target for Israel to deal with. Isn't it time Israel stepped up to the plate after ALL THE U.S. HAS DONE FOR ISRAEL? Let Israel do its part for the "war on terrorism". It is NOT the role of the U.S. to be a world policeman for anyone who bothers Israel. The U.S. has to have a compelling interest (U.S. interest) before they go to war or assassinate people.

Re your post 72, where do you get all this nonsense from. Go back, read the article, sourced by a CANADIAN, clearly biased, and show me where Israel is asking the US for ANY help in doing ANYTHING to Arafat IN THE STORY, not your hallucinations. Arafat has been killing Americans for years, there's nothing odd about this. The only role the US has had historically is supporting him as an ally.

Look, I'm not going to waste more time on this.
As a Jew, you have sympathy for Israel. You typically post articles looking for support for Israel. I don't mind suporting them however I don't see the role of the U.S. to be assassinating terrorists who are really targetting ISRAEL.
Again, Israel is quite capable of defending itself and assassinating terrorists. Just the other week, the blind wheel chair guy, Hammas or whatever his name was had his head blown off courtest of Israel. So, let Israel pull it's weight and fight the "war on terrorism" instead of having others fight their wars or aid them or train them etc.. Israel is NOT helpless.

The Washington Times printed it (Yonif, next time use them, it'll save some people a lot of panty wadding). They must have liked what it said too. There is a pattern to WHAT they print to.
You contensions that Israel is somehow asking the US to kill Arafat, or to do anything with respect to Arafat, who imo is effectively sidelined, is completely unsubstantiated by the article. They're figments of your imagination.

Yonif you have provided NO evidence of that and a source that is VERY biased in favor of Israel. No one said Arafat is not a terrorist. He is a TERRORIST to ISRAEL not the U.S. but you don't want to acknowledge that. Here is one piece of evidence.
Victims of Hebrew University 2002 massacre remembered
Richard LeBaron, deputy chief of mission of the US Embassy, spoke on behalf of Ambassador Daniel Kurtzer. He called attention to the fact that five victims were American citizens attending the university. LeBaron described "the shared grief of the people of Israel and the US" as "another dimension of our common bond."
Arafat is a terrorist leader who is part of the group waging terrorism on the West. I am not saying that Israel cannot kill another terrorist like Arafat. What I am saying is that the US should be giving Israel, as the only friend in the world to it, support when it comes to fighting terrorism. Just like Bush gave support to Spain when they declared ETA was responsible for the bombing (even though we found out later that they weren't). But we saw Bush support Spain in its fight against terror groups like ETA, even though ETA didn't really pose a threat to us.
Again, why can't Israel handle this problem? Alot of people don't like the people you mentioned. Arafat is small potatoes compared to Bin Laden and Saddam Insane.
Arafat invented suicide terrorism. He has been one of the terrorist leaders overseeing the murder of up to 1500 innocents, including members of other nations. Israel can handle this problem, but it needs support, and it is extremely unhelpful when America says it is against taking action against Arafat. Maybe if the US would be quiet, that would be better. Remember the 1981 Iraq Reactor destruction by Israel? Sure, Israel got flak from the US for doing that stuff, but the US never told Israel not to attack Iraq.
I stated that fact because you said only Jews would have a bias against Arafat. The US needs to clearly say Israel is part of the war on terrorism and support her in her fight, instead of treating this terrorist war as a separate thing. The US has interest in Middle East stability, a democratic Middle East, and a terrorism free Middle East. The presence of Yasser Arafat does neither of these three.

Another act of war.
Will the Bushies (of whom I am occassionally one) treat acts of war seriously?
Or will the Administration ignore these acts of war like the Clintons did Al Qaeda?
