Michael Savage is saying Bush did badly tonight, some callers agree. He did do badly tonight. I don't know what channel most on this thread were watching, but I saw a president who was tired, defensive, and constantly searching for words.
At the risk of getting attacked by the angry crowd, I agree.
Obviously the press are a bunch of liberal screw worms, however, it was very painful to watch.
He seemed to be unfocused, lost, unprepared, and drifting on several occasions. Only the blind and deaf, or those with a political agenda could not see it, or would not admit it.
The problem here is when someone makes a comment or steps out of formation, in the slightest, and says something that does not fall into what the mob repeats over and over, we'll they are fair game. It's like waving an Israeli flag at an Ali Baba worship fest in downtown Baghdad. You'll get wolfpacked.

He did not rehearse, and, knowing that his every word would make headlines, he paused and uh. . .ed a lot. But he didn't misspeak. He thinks his honesty and firmness will win him reelection. I hope it does.

You should know all about people who speak from a political agenda, Joe.
No mobs or angry crowds here, but your 'worship of Ali Baba' comparison is despicable.........even for you.
Don't you have any shame?

Amazing. I saw a President that told us what he felt and how he saw his duty to the country. Not tired, not fancy, not phony. A man with the toughest job in the world, doing it with a pure purpose.
The great communicator Clinton, lied to us, betrayed us and made the presidency an exercise in vanity. He never looked tired or searching for words. Those words poured out of him, albeit with with no meaning or heart.
You have a right to your perception. I am just amazed of how differently I perceived this press conference.

He seemed to be unfocused, lost, unprepared, and drifting on several occasions. At the risk of being attacked, I will also state that I agree. I thought his speech was very good, but I didn't think he did well at all in the Q&A period. He rambled, forgot the question, drifted, etc. I spent a lot of the time wincing when he spoke. I was actually kind of embarrassed for him at times.
The press corps is a bunch of jackasses and their "questions" were BS, but Bush didn't respond well to them at all a lot of the time. It wasn't so much what he said but his delivery that was the problem.

Hmmm,
I notice how he does stumble a bit on some phrases and in answering some questions. I suppose on pure form a speech teacher would give him average marks. I imagine that same speech teacher would give Clinton straight "A's" for delivery.
BUT, it was obvious as well that he was speaking from the heart and from convictions, that he believes in how he is leading this country, and that he has no intention of backing down on the War on Terror, nor is he about to give into the spineless Democrats and leftist media who would like him to say everything is his fault, including Bin Laden sending airplanes into buildings on 9/11.
The FOX crowd said it best...they should let him do more of these because he stays on message when he does, even if his delivery is never perfect...the message comes through loud and clear.
Savage is interesting but a bit out there at times. Need to take much of what he says with a grain of salt, even if he is on "our side."

I don't suppose it occured to you that the problem might have been questions that were either unfocused or unrelated to the issues but pointedly personal and partisan ? Such as, are you ever going to admit you made a mistake ? There is a good answer to that question but I'm certain I'd be banned for saying it.
