Too bad that you don't understand that I didn't see a confused or stumbling man. From the doom & gloom naysayer critics on this thread, I'd say the President could issue a declaration that America was going to cede sovereignty to France, and as long as he was one smooooth cookie when saying it, getting all the inflections perfect for the soundbytes, most of them would think he was a great President, doing a good job with a GREAT MESSAGE!!!
Give me an honest and believable human being with a good message any time, thank you very much.

Two freaks, who haven't been in touch with reality in decades, claiming that the president is out of touch with reality, should just keep mum.

Agreed. I don't supplant one's income by buying their idiotic book of lies, when all they've got is an axe to grind, no matter how compelling the book reviewers make the books out to be.
"You'll read it from cover to cover!" and all that malarkey. Pfft.

I have a hunch we are going to have one, probably this summer to test how well Bush holds up, if he sinks in the polls afterwards expect another one right around election time. We have the terroists right here in Berkeley, don't be surprised.

I know you're not the only one who thinks so, but I think all of you are mistaking thoughtful pauses as somehow 'stumbling.'
Other than the one moment when he really had no answer, I didn't see him stumble at all.
I do have it on tape, however, and will likely watch it again to see if my perception changes........but I doubt it will.

Well rested? Not bloody likely, with today's drive from hell...idiot drivers, lousy weather, and really hidious road signs in Jersey. :-( You should have been on the Jersey Tpk. on Sunday night. I drove all the way from Florida on my last day of vacation just to be stuck in traffic all the way out at exit 6.
But, I didn't find the N.J. road signs to be revolting, distressing, appalling....;)

I have 2 college degrees in English, and I value the clarity of President Bush's communications.
To: Havoc
Do I blame this president - sure do - it's his policy that did it. Can you tell me what specific legislation or policy that Bush created, that didn't exist before he took office, that allows you to blame Bush?

Buchanan left the reservation as far as I am concerned the moment he proclaimed to be in charge of the "pitchfork brigade".

If GWB appeared tired during the press conference, it could be due to the hour. Doesn't he usually go to bed at around the time he started? It would be like regular folk having to deliver an important speech and Q&A at midnight.

Perhaps a better comment would have been: "Upon David Gregory's birth, the Doctor reached over and slapped his momma."

I see you're back and RESTED..........LOL!

My grandmother, who's an dyed-in-the-wool FDR Democrat just loves how clear and concise Bush speaks.

You're being ridiculous. There is not one of us here who would cheer a smooth speech of the type you mention. Of course the message matters. But DELIVERY COUNTS, particularly with the Great Unwashed who are likely to decide this election. And I think that Bush could've done better and I wish he had.

Wow. I have some questions involving "If I was" vs. "If I were" that I'll ask you later. I never can remember.

As for what "reporters" want, I could not care less what they want. What they need to do is report and not manipulate the news of the day.Just picked up from PR900 via Instapundit:
"It's less than unimportant. It's press corps important. And it's why I find myself listening to the press less and less these days."
To: ohioWfan
Funny. I usually agree with you Jorge. Thanks for saying so.
I know this will be followed by a BIG "but" :)
But I didn't see anything 'shaky and lacking composure' in his demeanor at all, and nothing even slightly embarrassing.
Common...you know you are being extremely gracious.
Or perhaps you missed him stammering and searching vainly for a coherent response to the idiot who asked him if he thought he made ANY mistakes.
He ended up coming up with nothing...which was great. I'm glad he came up with NOTHING. But I think he could have done it better.
