Niece Murdered In Phoenix
Posted on 04/13/2004 10:15:15 AM PDT by celia
I am a lurker here, and find myself hoping to find somebody that would be willing to help me.
I learned this morning that my cousin's daughter (Tara Parker) was murdered in Phoenix area last Friday night --- her dad didn't learn of her demise until Sat. night.
She was found in the parking lot of a Mormon church, and the investigators are not telling the family anything.
I am in Chicago and have done searches all over the web. No luck.
Does anybody know anything else about this? If I've posted this in the wrong place, please tell me --- I hope I haven't offended anyone.
Thanks.

I had not read anything about this either. Says a lot for our local news, doesn't it. Will see what I can find.
To: celia
I'm very sorry to hear it. I did a Google search and also failed to turn up anything. It may not be in the news reports.

Worker discovers body in church parking lot
AVONDALE - A body was found Friday in the parking lot of a Mormon church, and police say the person was murdered.
A member of a landscape or cleaning crew discovered the body about noon when they arrived for work, said Avondale police Lt. Chris Medaglia. The body was in bushes in a parking lot of the church, near 110th Avenue and Indian School Road.
Police said the victim was an adult and was not a church employee. Officials did not disclose the victim's gender.
An autopsy is scheduled.
Medaglia said detectives are trying to determine whether the victim was killed in the parking lot or whether the body was dumped later.

Body found in Avondale church lot
by Caitlin Prendergast staff writer
Avondale police are investigating a dead body found Friday, April 9, in the parking lot of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the citys Garden Lakes development. The body was discovered by workers around noon on Good Friday, in a landscaped area of the church parking lot at Garden Lakes Parkway and 107th Avenue, Lt. Chris Medaglia said.
Police have not identified the victim, but are treating the death as a criminal investigation.
We dont believe the victim was associated with the church, and its undetermined whether the crime took place here or the body was left here, Medaglia said. The body had obviously been down for some time.
The entire area surrounding the church was cordoned off Friday afternoon, and Medaglia suspected the investigation at the crime scene would go on through the weekend. Investigators with the Arizona Department of Safety were called in to assist Avondale detectives with diagramming and photographing the scene.
Police are not looking for a suspect at this time, Medaglia said.
