I heard an interesting discussion on the radio this morning where they were saying that Ashcroft is the one being set up as the fall guy and that the commission was going to grill him as harshly as they did during his confirmation hearings.

Frankly I think Freeh is not putting forth a good case for himself, which is admittedly difficult to do when one does not have a good case. LOL

Well, I have no doubt the commission will throw soft balls at Janet and draw out the long knives for Ashcroft.

But it's going to take something huge for them to draw a big enough rational conclusion that paints Ashcroft as responsible for 9-11.

FWIW, I'm not sure that anybody personally will be held responsible but the large, nebulous bodies of the FBI/CIA. Easier for the commission that way donchaknow...

Some analysts were saying that last week after Dr. Rice's testimony. She did such a good job, the Lib/Dems quickly changed from just attacking her to attacking her and Ashcroft.

Now, the Lib/Dems perceive Ashcroft as being vunerable because Dr. Rice became 'untouchable.'

The Dems need some Republican's head to roll for them to gain any credibility. [Based on history, they might get one.]
