I guess I was about 16 before I realized that "stinking" and "democrat" were two separate words. They flowed together so well in my home.
UNfortunately my home (as a child) held that Democrat and patriotic were synonymous (how ironic) and that Republican and big business were synonymous (how shortsighted).
It took my dad to realize the depths that the Democrats had sunk to in the mid 60's finally changing his mind.
It took me a while to do so having experienced the murky and corrupt abyss of the socialist Left.
Now, as an enlightened politically informed citizen I am proud to proclaim myself a Conservative Republican.
