Ashcroft basically just nailed the ineptitude demonstrated during nearly a decade of Clinton.

Ted Oleson sitting over Ashcroft's shoulder. Love it. Just part of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. :)

I just heard that. AG Ashcroft pulls no punches and tells it like it is.

Yes, Kristen. And she said that the Pentagon cancelled flights on the 11th because they "knew" something was going to happen.

Ashkroft: THere was NO policy to KILL Bin Laden when he took office.

Yes!, and Ben Viste very quickly scooted away from that as fast as a a good trial lawyer would when a "friendly" witess mentions something absolutely damning to his client, before the Jury can gawk it.

Ashcroft is nailing Congress's a** to the wall.
They bear responsibility for creating "the wall" and other problems within the intelligence community.

Ashecroft pounding the fact that because of the LAW their hands were tied in dealing w/terrorists BEFORE they acted.
To: eleni121
Ashcroft is just destroying the 1995 statutes.
He's using straight facts of the government erected wall to skewer the laws.
Oh, wow.

Now what is the deal BV referred to, telling Black he was wrong, that there was an order to kill OBL?
How could the CIA not know that there was a order to kill if there was one? "Held very closely" is what he said -- Clinton signed an order to kill OBL and then hid it from the very people who were suppose to carry it out?

You know, the Dems on the Commission can try to go after Ashcroft regarding the issue of a budget increase (Pickard's testimony), but the bottom line is that Congress would have had to approve it and even if he had entertained it, it never would have been aprroved before 9/11 or in time for it to have any effect on intelligence gathering prior to 9/11.

And REno and Berger ( I believe) said there was. Interesting

No,Ascroft apparently intends to swing for the fences. Fireworks to follow.

I also wrote to the ombudsman at WP. That article by Milbank was way over the line of 'reporting.'
