Your objection to Pete Coors on these grounds is simply absurd; a company, especially one as large as Coors, must bend to the realities of our politically correct elites, or face ongoing financial pressures. I deplore it, and the homosexual agenda you seem so agitated about, as much as any decent conservative. But it's the way the world works currently, and has little to do with how good it would be for the GOP in general--and Colorado conservatives in particular--if Pete Coors were elevated to the United States Senate. Running a profitable business has little to do with one's personal ideology: it's all about maximizing income and cutting losses. Stockholders don't give a whit about the homosexual agenda--or anyone else's, for that matter. They care about the bottom line profit/loss margin. That's *their* agenda. Cut the man some slack; he's trying to run a huge business in a big world. His personal political beliefs by necessity must take a back seat to that reality.
But I'm afraid it's your kind of "purity" that may well put a liberal Democrap in Colorado's Senate seat. How happy will those pushing the "homosexual agenda" you talk so much about be then? Probably a lot happier than if Peter Coors wins (and holds) that seat for the GOP, let me assure you.

Thanx for posting that link-and refreshing my mind. I now recall Coors doing the add for NRA. He, Tom Sellick, NBA star, etc.

All this election needs is for John Elway to toss his hat in! HA! Guess he has already said, "No." Perhaps another day, position.

I assume Coors,Inc. is unionized?

Interesting aside-back years ago, when Coors beer was expanding from it's 4 or 5 state customer base, Augie Busch (Jr.?)said Coors beer would never be sold in Missouri. I believe it was stated that Coors beer (at that time) was "unpasteurized?" Anyway, ultimately it was/is sold in Missouri. Moral of story? Coors had political clout YEARS ago...

The question is should someone who runs a company with that type of philosophy be worthy of someone's vote for the US Senate. I'm more than comfortable saying NO NO NO.

I see you are from Michigan where you have two Democrats for Senators.

Perhaps it's thinking like yours that gets them elected.

Um, perhaps you can be a little clearer. Protectionist is a liberal democrate pro-union position. There's nothing conservative about hating workers in other countries who can give better values to our own businesses. How does my free market thinking lead to the election of socialists? By the way, these socialists have much more in common with you and your ilk than they do with me my friend.

You make some interesting and, unfortunately, circular arguements. First, you say "Coors, must bend to the realities of our politically correct elites, or face ongoing financial pressures." Then you claim that "Stockholders don't give a whit about the homosexual agenda--or anyone else's, for that matter." This leaves the reader to wonder who is Coor's master? Is it the homos or the stockholders? Clearly here he's made a decision to pander to the homos, despite your claim that the stockholders could care less about their agenda. You've unwittingly confirmed my point. He supports homos for no good reason.

There is one important question: does Coors outsource? If not, than we've got the ideal candidate.

Nope. Our corporate headquarters and primary brewery are in Golden, Colo, with other major brewing and packaging facilities in Elkton, Va., and Memphis, Tenn.

We make our own cans and bottles as well. Internationally, we own Carling in the UK.

Our brewery in Golden isn't unionized. I think the other two are.

I think you are failing to follow the thread. I replied to your comment that you would vote "No" on Coors because the company offered health benefits to homosexuals. That isn't socialism. It's private enterprise offering whatever benefits it chooses to offer.

And then I pointed out that you have two Democrat senators in your state and perhaps that is a result of purists like yourself who would vote "no" on a conservative Republicans over one issue.

We have good conservative candidates running for this seat. They are not socialists and some of your comments don't really seem to apply. Have a nice day in Michigan.

Ok, now I understand where your comment came from. I'm a purist in the primary, but I'll vote for the lesser of two evils in the general election. I've rarely found the democrat choice to be the lesser evil, so I usually end up voting GOP. I don't disagree that Coors will be the best candidate. I'm just disappointed that he didn't stand up to the homo lobby as a corporate chief. I can't imagine he'll do much better in Congress.

Generally, I agree with this and that's why I said early on in this thread that I will keep an open mind in the primary. Shaffer is my first choice but we'll see.

Here's a couple of facts and I don't know how they figured into Peter Coor's thinking. One, there is a homosexual member of the Coors family. I'm not sure of his relationship to Peter but someone will probably tell us.

Two, as I understand it, the business was not doing as well as it had just before Peter took it over. He has done well with it. Again, there perhaps Randall Flagg or someone will enlarge on this or correct it if I'm wrong.

I wonder if every thread posted about Peter Coors will be about beer instead of politics.

Kind of unfortunate since Coors doesn't just make beer.

That's terrific to hear. A patriotic businessman (and there seems to be a shortage of them lately). I think that he has what it takes to outpoll Ken Salazar.
