BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The U.S. military intends to kill or capture rebel Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr who launched an uprising this month with his militiamen clashing with coalition soldiers in several towns and cities.

"The mission of U.S. forces is to kill or capture Moqtada al-Sadr," Lieutenant General Ricardo Sanchez, commander of ground forces in Iraq (news - web sites), said in a video conference from Baghdad with correspondents in the United States.

Don't capture! Kill this wormy piece of nothing. Otherwise, the military will have every civil rights attorney in the world wanting to represent this piece of crap, just for the headlines alone.

Excellent.

But isn't this going to inflame the Arab and Islamic world by declaring that the US is supporting killing or capturing this terrorist leader? And also isn't this too harsh of language for a government to use in public?

Might as well hear it from a stranger. Take it or leave it, but the uh "be seeing you" bit is a tad, er..gay. At the very least, its juvenile.

Jesus wept.

Don't you have anything to say about the subject of the thread?

I mean, pearls before swine and all that.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

"I vote for kill."

Then hang his charred remains from a bridge. Give the towelheads a tast of their own meds.

I say we negotiate, beginning with the aerial symphony of a C-130 gunship hovering over dude's crib and firing 6,000 rounds per minute. We'll talk to anyone who stumbles out of the rubble. We'll speak loudly and clearly through our interpreter (a Hellfire missile).

We should then capture what's left of him using a good size Shop Vac.

A long-term hanging may be appropriate.

Following Oliver Cromwell's death and the restoration of the British monarchy, Cromwell's corpse was exhumed and dragged through the streets. Six hours later, it was beheaded and Cromwell's skull was impaled on a spike at Westminster Hall where it remained on display for a long time.

Some traditions have lasting appeal.

I think that we have to advertise to these guys that we soak our military's ammunition in pig blood. That way when we shoot them they will not get their 72 virgins and no paradise. Furthermore, for all of those useful idiots out there, I tend to agree with Dr. Savage when he says that the protests have an effect on the war effort. GO MARINES.

The issue becomes a little bit more complicated than just killing Sadr. Sistani is waiting in the wings with a far larger majority of Shiites supporting him. The United States does not want Sistani capturing the election process because it would mean that Iraq would become a Muslim theocracy. Sadr divides the Shiite majority so if he is killed, Sistani gains the full Shiite majority, exactly what the US does not want. There is no possibility that the Bush dream of democracy in Iraq can overcome the obstacles in its way. One appreciates the wisdom that Bush 41 had in not going on into Iraq. Bush 43 is in a morass that is going to cost him an election if things don't start breaking his way.

The History Channel had a wonderful special a while ago on Pablo Escobar called "Killing Pablo". Pablo had a lot of similarities to the terrorist garbage we are fighting now. It's my point that "Los Pepes" is an idea worth looking into. Without "Los Pepes", Pablo Escobar would never have been brought to justice.

"Los Pepes" was an organization that the Columbian government distanced itself from, but did nothing to stop. It (supposedly) was a grass roots organization dedicated to eradicating Pablo's organization. It worked like this:

Lawyers that defended Pablo's friends/employees/ associates: killed, families killed by Los Pepes

Family members of Pablo's: killed by Los Pepes

Villages sympathetic to Pablo's organization: Everyone killed by Los Pepes

Newspaper reporters sympathetic to Pablo: killed/ families killed by Los Pepes

Columbian governments position: Hey. People are pissed about Pablo. We can't control them any more than we can control Pablo.

How about this scenario: "Los Habib" becomes a grass roots organization pissed off about attacks on the liberators. "Los Habib" finds family members of the garbage mob that dragged our people through the streets, andd feeds them to ravenous hogs. And so on. . . You get the picture. We can't control "Los Habib" anymore than we can control the terrorists. . .

It's an idea who's time has come

Whenever the government releases information which seems to be showing our cards to those who would love to use it against us, I whisper a little prayer, "Please, God, Let these people know what they're doing! Please make this part of some larger USA-protective plan to which we are not privy!"

Paradoxically, the workings of an effective military FOR the people cannot be known BY the people..."need to know" and all of that stuff.

I believe, given sufficient conservative Christians upholding him in prayer, that God will insure Bush wins. But I believe there will be 2-3 months this summer which will look like things are going the opposite direction.

I personally believe that Iraq needs divided up into 3 countries or at worst 3 states with a LOT of individual state power overseen by a weak Federal authority for perhaps defense or some such.

Certainly the challenges currently are no laughing matter and no simple matter.
