Barbara (L) and Jenna Bush, the daughters of U.S. President George W Bush, walk together from the Darnall Army Community Hospital in Fort Hood, Texas, April 11, 2004 after President Bush (news - web sites) and members of his family visited with soldiers wounded in Iraq (news - web sites). Bush awarded 10 purple hearts to troops recovering in the hospital, after attending an Easter Sunday Church service at a chapel within the army base in central Texas.

You brought up sex addicts and porn addicts not me. And if you wish to go around talking and sympathising and saving tthem while admonishing your fellow church going lady friends to cover up lest they inflame them, be my guest. But I still think you ought to leave such work to the men of the church and let the ladies be, barebacked and all.

You have lived a sheltered life.

I only wear lined skirts and pants thus obviating the slip rule. I always found them pesky myself.
I love vintage clothes, and I have learned to look VERY carefully for the magic words "fully lined."

"It sounds like you were raised right." My mother lost her way for several years but she came around at the time of her third marriage when I was just turned six, and she and my second stepfather raised us in the Episcopal Church, with the influence of nonradical repentants, so I have seen the effects of wantonness and I prefer the opposite by my own free choice. When my natural (and born again) father met my sister and me at my age 30, he was pleasantly shocked at our not excessive modesty, saying, "When girls are raised as you were [he didn't know our mother had gotten her bearings when I was six], they either turn out totally trashy or quite modest. I am glad to see you both chose to be modest." He confessed then that he had been quite apprehensive about meeting us and bringing us into his home (he had two younger children) for this reason, among others, but was glad that his fears were, to his amazement, unfounded.
Which proves that God can overcome even the most desperate situations. But I am glad my real father prayed for us all those years.

...I dare anybody to show up in THE SOUTH at a cocktail party OR a wedding with no hose on except in the dead of summer........... I've done that a hundred times. What's the problem?
On the other hand, since I've moved to Colorado Springs I have gotten a few stares. Maybe I should save my moustache.

Pantyhose are always in style. Alleged trendsetters with nude legs under skirts (especially suit skirts) are declasse.

"They are 21 years old. I think we should be glad to see that they are 1. at Easter services with their family and not running around on a beach in Florida, 2. Wearing dresses and not jeans, and they have no tattoos or body piercings, and 3. Went to visit wounded GI's."
You are right that the above is all well and good. While they could have dressed better they could have dressed much worse.
To: cajungirl
I would not think of going any where when dressed including work without hosiery even when it is 106. with pants I wear trouser socks or thigh highs.
You and me both! Our mothers must be acquainted.

well i went to a society wedding at a farm up in NY last summer, and was very much perplexed about the need to wear hose with the sandals. i brought them, didn't wear them, and it was perfectly fine. i was very glad bc it was hot, humid and the ground was very soft as it had rained the day before and my heels kept sinking into the ground! i don't have a definitive fix on hose w/sandals or not. but i will bear in mind that if i go to a suthren affair that i should wear them!

Please, please, PLEASE tell me you don't deem hose with sandals appropriate.I have Southern roots and my dear grannies would roll over in their graves if I did not wear hose with my dress up sandals etc. I do remember one of my aunties telling me it was okay to go hose-less if one had a deep tan on their legs and it was very. very hot and you were at an outside affair. Alas, I never tan so I could not take advantage of this reprieve.

You ARE ChrisM, aren't you? You are now simply trying to keep the thread going and get everyone to argue amongst themselves.
