Barbara (L) and Jenna Bush, the daughters of U.S. President George W Bush, walk together from the Darnall Army Community Hospital in Fort Hood, Texas, April 11, 2004 after President Bush (news - web sites) and members of his family visited with soldiers wounded in Iraq (news - web sites). Bush awarded 10 purple hearts to troops recovering in the hospital, after attending an Easter Sunday Church service at a chapel within the army base in central Texas.

Hose are never worn with open-toed or open-heeled shoes.

Well of course they are. That's why they make the "sandalfoot" kind.

I am thinking of writing a book. Just keep them on, you can't go wrong!! Would make a nice bumper sticker, for your car, not your bumper.

Rebeckie was a troll for Judicial Watch who claimed she was the daughter of a minister.......wild child, right down to the naval piercing. Talked about her HAIR all the time; didn't care much for us "blue hairs." :-)

BTW, this will be posted at LP shortly......she sets off an alarm over there with the Toad.

Dressing modestly is in the eye of the beholder

And dressing immodestly is in the eye of the beholder, which is my point. Nevertheless, society has deemed it possible to have standards of, and even laws, defining decency. In a church, there is more liberty to define standards; it is a voluntary association. Our congregation has never refused anyone admittance based on how they dress, but the life and teaching in the church cause people to see what is acceptable there and it is amazing how folks begin to slough off the world when they decide to stick around, without anyone saying something personally to them. To my knowledge only the leaders are held to a specific standard for how they dress, and by the time they are raised up to be leaders, they have figured it out, but I am certain that if someone came in who was breaking laws of decency, they would be helped to a cover up of some kind.

You will choose your way to dress and deem, and I mine, but in the end, we'll find out what God thought of it all, won't we? Till then, I prefer to live by the "law" of dressing in a way that doesn't stumble others or set a bad example, and I am always delighted to see young people make that type of choice. Israel's King David cried out to God, "Remember not the sins of my youth."

My pastor's wife, a beautiful woman who dresses beautifully, modestly, and tastefully, whose manner of clothing herself provided a silent example, gave what I consider the best, most succinct definition of how to dress in a way that pleases God, how to dress modestly. She said clothing should draw attention to the woman's countenance. I have always remembered that. She wanted us to get into the mode of letting God rule our hearts so that if we were going to make a decision in clothing that would not honor Him, He would have access to our heart to nudge us away from it.

I am ROFLOL. My 4-year-old just came in and looked at that dress and said, "Is that Bob the Builder?"

Hubby called our older daughters in here and asked them if they liked it. They don't. They're both very conservative. The older one only wears stuff that is blue. (well, mostly) The younger of the pair loves that pukey lime green that Jenna is wearing.

Your mention of Amy Carter's looks reminds me of that picture of Chelsea standing beside some princess and looking for all the world like Eleanor Roosevelt.

Both Bush daughters look wonderful. My god, many on here need to grow up. I can just say, both are very attractive, very put together and in no way look inappropriate.

Some on here seem to think we live in the 1920's still. No wonder the GOP has such a hard time attracting youthful voters.

Start judging people by their actions....not what they "look" or "dress" like. People who judge others by what they "look" or "dress" like....are just silly minded people to me.

I wrote "bare backs, etc.," putting the "etc." in bold font so as to leave the rest to your imagination, which nuance didn't seem to get any traction.

You might take a look at how you are "talking" to me and ask which is the greater significance, my dislike of how the twins are dressing, or your antagonism toward me for having this opinion.

I think Rebeckie got her liberalism from her daddy.

Maybe it's Rebeckie's mommy. ;-)

Hi Mo, you know I never get so hacked at as I do on these clothing threads. (pun intended)

They both have wraps but Jenna's didn't quite do the job.

Knowing that they were going to visit the hospitalised soldiers after the church services, these VERY good looking young ladies could very well have CHOSEN to dress this way to give the guys something gorgeous to look at.
