The Iraqi group holding a US hostage has agreed not to kill him, Mezher Dulaimi, a self described Iraqi mediator, said yesterday.
Dulaimi, who heads an Iraqi human rights group, said the affair of the missing American had been settled, and that he was in good health.
Earlier, Qatar based satellite television station Al-Jazeera screened a video showing a man in civillian clothes and presented him as Thomas Hamill, a United States national held hostage.
Dulaimi said that the United States hostage had recieved medical attention.
However there was no immediate word on when he might be released.

You sound like you know this firsthand.
My uncle was all over the ME when I was a kid. He'd go over there for several months then come back. When he was around he'd come to my dad's house on the bay and they would sit around and talk. This was 20+ years ago.
My uncle would talk about the Arabs. He was the one I heard this from. He also said that some day we would regret doing business with them. That their religion would blow up on us. He thought Arabs were pretty much all crazy. He said that most Arab men were queers.
My uncle was a mans man. In WWII he was in underwater demolition. Which I understand was somewhat a precurser to the Navy Seals. He was a very matter-of-fact fellow who did not mince words. He passed away some years back. I wish he was still around. I'm sure he would have had opinions on what is happening today.

Bttt! Good answer!

Yeah, my only point was sometimes people post opinions that sound like we're oh so much more sophisticated than them, but if I've got some gangsta' gonna pop a cap in my @ss and the liberal media won't even report it because he belongs to a "protected minority", and he might walk because the ACLU gets him a red diaper doper baby lew-yeh from NYU, then we aren't that much better. That's all. And it wasn't directed at you personally.

To an Arab, the "truth" is whatever he can convince you is the "truth". It has nothing to do with reality or absolute truth. <--- So in fact what you're saying is that Clinton is an Arab? : )

Actually regarding what your uncle said, I have read that before too..that there are a lott of booty pirates over there, but they dont consider themselves queer as long as they are "pitching" and not "catching".

Hope to God it's true. I'm inclined to believe it. I think Sadr's gang is seeing writing on the wall.

Mr. Hamill has been identified as a truck driver for Brown Root. Why do we have American civilians driving trucks over there? That seems the kind of job we'd want to hire unemployed Iraqi men to work. Was he MORE than just a truck driver, maybe a security/driver?

Yes, this family has really had their problems. I also caught something on the news about his having had a dairy farm that he either lost, or had to sell, and that was another reason he needed the money so bad. I'm sure his wife's hospital bills are horrendous. I do hope they had good insurance, but I'm wondering, since he seemed to be self-employed. If I've got that right.

I just heard the top of the hour news
on Fox right before Neil Cavuto's program,
that Thomas Hammill's fate is unknown.
That the deadline for the kidnappers' demands
has come and gone, with NO word on Hammill.

He also said that some day we would regret doing business with them. That their religion would blow up on us.Your uncle certainly had one-on-one experience with them with this kind of foresight. Count me as wishing he and others like him were still around - a vast well of experience for many Americans who don't understand the mindset of the Arabs.
One of the biggest differences I have seen between them and Americans is the value placed on life (read lack of it on their part). That, and it only takes one volatile one to set the rest of them off. Always reminded me of swarms of fish.
I salute your uncle's service and also you for keeping his memory alive - he would have made one heck of a Freeper

According to Fox 5:30pm CST, his fate is still unknown. I will say this - from the video of hiim - he is holding himself up like a man, an AMERICAN MAN. God Bless and keep him.

Why on earth should I give your analysis any credibilty?LOL ....relax Tdadams and chill out. Chill! I never asked that you give credence to my 'analysis' so take a chill pill and relax. And by the way, FR is a forum for opinions and comments. No one is under any pressure to swallow any poster's opinions.
And by the way. I never said my post was gospel truth. I was basing it on reports on some clerics declaring a fatwa on hostage taking (and hence making it anathema), and secondly on the fact that the terrorists in Iraq have not shown any hesitancy in killing our soldiers. And i never made acerbic comments on your analysis (even if, as you said, you based it on your instincts ....and there is nothing wrong with that).
I just find it hilarious when some Freepers resort to diatribe when they cannot debate. And what's even more ludicrous are those that automatically attack anyone who does not concur with them.
LOL.

The Iraqi group holding a US hostage Shouldn't this be a POW?
And where the heck are the outraged "international" groups demanding to visit him?
To: onyx
I heard that, too. Still praying hard here.
To: Eagle Eye
Thank you for your service, Eagle Eye. I'll add you to my prayers. Tell the soldiers they have our full support.

This guy went to Iraq to avoid bankruptcy. His wife just had heart surgery and has two kids, aged 12 and 14. He did this so that he would not take the easy way out and file bankruptcy and pay his creditors. The entire town of Macon is behind him and say he is one fine upstanding and religious and honest man. That is the way we Mississippians are. You just have to admire this guy's courage...even if you're a YANKEE.
To: spetznaz
You're the one who needs to relax. You basically dismissed my point of view in a very condescending manner and then attacked me for defending my position. So maybe you need to look in the mirror.

BUMP.
Prayers for him and his family.
Maybe in his case "no news is good news" for now.
