Condi Rice's Poise Under Fire Ignites Spark of Pride in Women

'Ive already watched her all morning on TV,' said Gael Sandoval, a Royal Oak events planner, who said she admired the way Dr. Rice was holding up under the scrutiny of the September 11th Comission hearing.
For women around the area, the surprising tug of Rice's testimony went largely unspoken and unreported -but you could watch it, see it, feel it.
Women especially wanted to see how a woman-and in particular this very powerful one-would hold up to a barrage of carefully honed questions and international scrutiny.
You could argue that you were watching the most powerful woman in the world.
Whether she would wilt like a pansy in the June heat or stay cool, it was a moment to watch because it would reverberate, perhaps even trickle down, if she failed.
'Her hair was fine,' Salon owner Lola Haley said on the day after, 'But that wasn't what people were talking about..She's just smart. She backed folks up. She didn't waver. We didn't care if she was black, white, or female-she was prepared and came through.'

Your comparison is largely one of degree.
His function on FOX is to convey the daily talking point what ever it is and allow no conaservative point to go unchallanged. Brit Hume gets on his case more often than any one else.
Were he really capable he would not be sluffed off to the NPR backwater.

Not being respected by a lawyer is a good thing, yes?

Hell, so do I. Wouldn't that force the Dems to show their hand on race once and for all.

This may be true, however, from what I've seen, Juan is at least civil and does shut up and listen.
However, if you contrast his behavior on Fox to Eleanor Clift on McGlaughlin Group, there is no comparison.

We should be beyond this sort of discussion, yes. But we arent. Since when do feminists want us to "be beyond this sort of discussion"? It's when the woman in question is a Republican!

"The silly dimwit I mentioned is Laura Berman." Amen. I was flabbergasted when I read this piece by that liberal twit in this morning's Detroit News. First time I ever agreed with something she wrote!

I wonder if some of the black vote would move towards President Bush because of his association with Rice. If she were named the VP, book a landslide. Since the VP doesn't usually get named until the convention, W has until September. Cheyney's health isn't getting any better, and Haliburton issues go away. Anybody think Kerry has the nads to attack Condi?
To: smonk
My Dem friends resented the way Condi was treated by the Dems on the commission. They recognize and appreciate her intelligence, and believe she was telling the truth and believe "Clarke was trying to sell a book." They are voting for Bush and hoping Condi runs in '08. They are now calling themselves "Independents."
