Connie Rice, a black civil-rights attorney here in Los Angeles, described the situation at the hospital this way: "The hospital is run like a tribal fiefdom, and it's appalling. You can't ask questions because it's a black institution. If you ask questions, they scream racism. But it's not a question of race, it's a question of competence."

This and the other thread on how much population Philidelphia has lost show that yes, we can become a third world country easily enough.

It's not Affirmative Action. It's the mau-mauing of the LA city counsel to Maxine Waters and her ilk.

Wow! I'm glad I live in Florida where we do things right, except for that voting thing a while back.
Actually, there is a hospital in Tampa which is not as bad as the one in this article but they have made some pretty bad mistakes, most notably the one where they amputated the wrong leg on a patient.

This scenario played out in the schools before it did in the hospitals.

Is that better?

"The decline of King/Drew Hospital should serve as a cautionary tale to anyone who clings to the notion that health care should be dispensed by the government."
The LA County Government is completely affirmative action. Affirmative action, the way it is practiced by government is completly racist. I have a white friend who interned there. To say there is racial tension is like saying Mt. Saint Helens overheated.

Same here in Oklahoma. Indians get preferance as far as internships, scholorships, etc.
There is a Tribal cabal that controls the tobacco shops, as well. It doesn't matter than some are named "O'Brian."

Sounds like the roost the Affirmative Action chickens come home to. It wasn't too long ago the medical schools were being forced to take unqualified Blacks over qualified students of other races. Sounds like they went to work here after they got graduated.
Also it surprises me that Blacks would waste their precious federal funds treating illegal Mexicans. I can't imagine a Black welfare queen waiting patiently while an illegal patient got taken in ahead of her.

It would be interesting to know if Yvonne Burke has been a patient at the King/Drew hospital especially since it is in her district. Parley

...(the) Martin Luther King Jr./Charles R. Drew Medical Center, in the Willowbrook area of South Los Angeles....has descended into a state of chaos, marked by infighting, racial tension, accusations of corruption, and many, many millions of dollars in malpractice payouts....(and) consistently ranks at the bottom of American teaching hospitals..."
The name alone should have been a tip off. No, not a racist remark merely an observation. Ever notice how the streets/highway named after MLK Jr. is always in the most, er, "challanged" part of town? After all, just b/c something is bad doesn't mean it's wrong.

Great article. It's gone from almost 100 percent black to 60 percent hispanic, thousands being illegal aliens. It'll be interesting to see when it goes to 90 percent hipanic, with very few paying their bills, I would say this hospital is doomed.
The hospital is run like a tribal fiefdom, and it's appalling. You can't ask questions because it's a black institution. If you ask questions, they scream racism. But it's not a question of race, it's a question of competence.
What I find funny is that most of the entire city is now run by people like this, and most anyone with a brain left LA city years ago.
LA city is a great example of a city run by race whores, and socialist. I am looking forward to the chaos created when most of the city is occupied by illegal aliens. The rampant chaos will make for a great belly laugh. They deserve everything they get in that city.
