I was listening to the Fox news talkies, and they repeated the point that the FBI was NOT conducting the investigations.

SOMEONE told the president in an official report to him that there were 70 investigations going on when there were NONE taking place.

The President of the entire U S of A says, "I want a briefing on Bin Laden's ability to strike inside the US." (Which is a great initiative on his part that NO ONE is pointing out with the degree of gotcha that they used to besmirch him)

Some staff weenie someplace was asked the right question about the terrorist's activities inside the US: "Don't just tell me the problems; tell me what we're doing about these terrorist connections inside the US!" So they respond to their boss...with info that'll go inside a report to the President of the entire U S of A .... with either a CYOA lie or totally inaccurate info.

Who would have gathered that info? Could it possibly have been Richard Clarke...after all he was counter-terror central, wasn't he?

Someone, though, either GOT or GAVE "Grossly Wrong or Grossly Untruthful" info to the president.

That is dreadful! It would be a bombshell indeed if there were no investigations being done by the FBI, and only one month before 9/11 !!!

The President should start with Freeh and then finish with Tenet! Let me guess the answer: "Mr. President the Iranian [insert any ME country] Desk doesn't talk to the Palestinian Desk [insert any ME country but we are working on it."

All roads lead to Saudi Arabia! And the Saudis own a lot of Congressmen/women! Hell they probably run the FBI!

I don't know, I think that's Gorelick spin. Condi testified the other day to the FBI pursuing this and she did not say it was not true. Gorelick said that, though.

We'll have to see next week when we hear from the FBI.

Indeed. So very true. It seems only the highest levels took the threat seriously, the ones beneath were in the "pass the buck" mode.
