I have a real question here: If the committee knew what was in the PDB, and there is no smoking gun, and it stood to be de-classified, why would they demand it be released as if it would sink the administration? There's no smoking gun, so why would they do it?

Because they thought Bush would drag his feet and not release it and that way they could hammer him over the head with it
