"The strike these guys called never happened, it was ignored. They turned up together at one mosque and the turnout was disappointing. I just read that Reuters sent out an article about Karbala where one of Sadars men was telling the reporters that all Iraqis hated Americans and a bunch of Iraqi people shoved him and said "Get out of here, we have families. Go cause trouble in your own town, get out of ours"

I would enjoy seeing that posted on a new thread if you can find the source.

"They don't know if we are going to cut and run and then they and their families will be left to the mercy of those men."

That is a very valid statement. It is a well-known fact the resentment we initially encountered during Iraqi Freedom was due to us leaving Saddam in power in '91 (only to have him perform genocide tactics on the kurds and shi'ites).

The immams and mullahs are rooting for Kerry.

Wonder why?

I've been searching for it. It was posted in the comment section of one of the Iraqi blogs. It was from a raw Reuter's report. That means it will probably never see the light of day in OUR media. If you'd like I'll go back and see if I can find which blog it was on and post the entire thing.

I don't disagree with any of it - I just wanted to open it up for discussion.

We see hardly any media coverage on pro-American activity inside Iraq by Iraqis.

More should start showing up soon.

Looks like most reporters are only looking for those who are dissatisfied. If you read the bloggers you will get a much better idea of what it's like over there. I just went back to see if I could find the comment, but most of the blogs have over a hundred posts each on them. I'll look later.

>> Democracy ain't gonna work in Iraq. It's too tribal and uneducated.

I agree about the democracy thing and always have. It's just too much of a change from what they've known their entire lives.

As for their intelligence quotient, I'm beginning to think these people are dumber than a box of rocks.

"They wanted everything handed to them. A concept my son and many others didn't understand, if you want something you have work for it."

Don't let Kerry hear you say that. His solution to the Iraq problem will be to put the whole country on welfare.

I would enjoy seeing that posted on a new thread if you can find the source.

Here's something I've found.

:: The "Islamic resistence" called for a general strike in Baghdad next Saturday. A shop keeper told me this morning that the "resistence men" ordered him to close his shop before afternoon and that he should also close the shop on Saturday.
Leaflets have been distributed cotaining a call for a strike with a threat that says "anyone who disobeys this order shall be punished".

I know that a strike is a self-chosen protest method used to express refusal for something or to ask for some demands, but this?! I don't know what to call it.

:: The strike -that the terrorists called for- didn't take place the way they desired; I wandered a lot in Baghdad today and I can assume that more than 50% of the shopkeepersrefused to submit to the thugs' threats but in A'adhamiya, the situation is different, almost all the shops are closed today as there were intense clashes between the fedayeen and the coalition troops, heavy gunfire and explosions were heard in the morning.
The traffic activity in Baghdad is normal and the whole city is quiet except A'adhamiya, even that Ali and I today met a journalist and a photographer from the (USA today). We spent more than 3 hours together during which we had a lot of conversation; we had lunch in a restaurant in Karrada and they made an interview with us about the Iraqi blogs. Later we all went to an internet cafe' to show them more details about our blog work.

I've found these Iraqi Blogs to be a good source of info on what's happening on the street
