I wonder if Clarke held meetings with the 'principals' right after this averted attack to 'shake the trees' and find out about future attacks. That's his whole spiel, right? If he had done what he advocates (or, as some would say, his job) he certainly would have stopped the 9/11 attacks in 1997.

Or maybe he's just a bureaucrat whining about not getting 'face time' with the president.

Not to mention Clarke wanted the number 2 spot at Homeland Security and Rice blocked his promotion since she felt him unfit. Gee wonder why the so called "news media" doesn't report any of the background info on Richard Clarke?

I suspect that Clarke was not trusted by a lot of those who worked with him. He comes across as an arrogant weird nutbag.

"I suspect that Clarke was not trusted by a lot of those who worked with him. He comes across as an arrogant weird nutbag.

If Clarke hadn't been given lesser responsibilities or fired, then I'd say his superiors were negligent. Clearly Clarke shares Clinton's inability to be honest. My hope is that eventually (sooner the better), enough of the truth comes out so that even the more ardent Democrats/Clinton supporters become so disgusted they can no longer live in their denial about who and what it is they've been defending.

Thank God we survived eight years of their government. How much damage to our national security has been done? As bad as this sounds, maybe we got off lucky that it's only been the attacks of 9/11. Imagine...what if Gore had become president instead of Bush?

The Democrats (DU) are up in arms about fears that Republicans are going to disclose personal information about Clarke. I get the feeling that they are dissapointed that Republicans haven't disclosed such information.

Democrats have come very close to disclosing it themselves just so they can blame Republicans.

"The Democrats (DU) are up in arms about fears that Republicans are going to disclose personal information about Clarke"

You mean like that he is a past member in the Aryan Nation, belongs to a Satanic Cult, is a cross-dresser, his favorite sexual position is "Tied" and his hobbies include pulling wings from flies and burning ants with a magnifying glass. Stuff like that1? But heck, that would only endure him even more to the demoncRATS. (maybe not the Aryan Nation stuff)

However what WOULD be his downfall would if it was 'leaked' that he reads the Bible, went to church every Sunday and has every Anita Bryant album ever made. Now that'd kill him!

#1: I have no idea if any of that is true, in fact I made it up. BUT a full disclosure by Clarke would clear things up.

"Or maybe he's just a bureaucrat whining about not getting 'face time' with the president."

Facetime. Low/mid-level staffer. Lack of recognition, lack of status

Years of hard work, resentment that his contributions are not getting him moved up the ladder.

Consider Clarke's recent blowup as the equivalent of "going postal" by longtime staffer.

Now he gets his recognition, his 15 minutes, his book proceeds. Now he is "somebody."

All it cost him was his integrity. Not surprised, since he donates to democrats.

Most striking from his testimony was admission, under oath, that had all his recommendations been implemented, it wouldn't have prevented 9/11/2001.
