In response to their comment that “patriotism is the refuge of cowards.” Maybe they should read about America’s Medal of Honor Recipients.

*KINGSLEY, DAVID R. (Air Mission) Rank and organization: Second Lieutenant, U.S. Army Air Corps, 97th Bombardment Group, 15th Air Force. Place and date: Ploesti Raid, Rumania, 23 June 1944. Entered service at. Portland, Oreg. Birth: Oregon. G.O. No.: 26, 9 April 1945. Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action at the risk of life above and beyond the call of duty, 23 June 1944 near Ploesti, Rumania, while flying as bombardier of a B17 type aircraft. On the bomb run 2d Lt. Kingsley's aircraft was severely damaged by intense flak and forced to drop out of formation but the pilot proceeded over the target and 2d Lt. Kingsley successfully dropped his bombs, causing severe damage to vital installations. The damaged aircraft, forced to lose altitude and to lag behind the formation, was aggressively attacked by 3 ME-109 aircraft, causing more damage to the aircraft and severely wounding the tail gunner in the upper arm. The radio operator and engineer notified 2d Lt. Kingsley that the tail gunner had been wounded and that assistance was needed to check the bleeding. 2d Lt. Kingsley made his way back to the radio room, skillfully applied first aid to the wound, and succeeded in checking the bleeding. The tail gunner's parachute harness and heavy clothes were removed and he was covered with blankets, making him as comfortable as possible. Eight ME-109 aircraft again aggressively attacked 2d Lt. Kingsley's aircraft and the ball turret gunner was wounded by 20mm. shell fragments. He went forward to the radio room to have 2d Lt. Kingsley administer first aid. A few minutes later when the pilot gave the order to prepare to bail out, 2d Lt. Kingsley immediately began to assist the wounded gunners in putting on their parachute harness. In the confusion the tail gunner's harness, believed to have been damaged, could not be located in the bundle of blankets and flying clothes which had been removed from the wounded men. With utter disregard for his own means of escape, 2d Lt. Kingsley unhesitatingly removed his parachute harness and adjusted it to the wounded tail gunner. Due to the extensive damage caused by the accurate and concentrated 20mm. fire by the enemy aircraft the pilot gave the order to bail out, as it appeared that the aircraft would disintegrate at any moment. 2d Lt. Kingsley aided the wounded men in bailing out and when last seen by the crewmembers he was standing on the bomb bay catwalk. The aircraft continued to fly on automatic pilot for a short distance, then crashed and burned. His body was later found in the wreckage. 2d Lt. Kingsley by his gallant heroic action was directly responsible for saving the life of the wounded gunner.

Was it just me, or did anyone else notice that the majority of people killed were white.

Is it just me, or are the majoirty of people in the U.S. "white"?

The people who flew those planes believed in something much more than sickening violent greed and selfishness

Yeah. They believed that if they killed thousands of people they would get 72 virgins.

Sickening violence and greed, indeed.

Is it just me, or is it times like when reading drivel like this that it would be great if our Zot abilities extended to outside of this site?

Our words and outlive us. The words we write have life; the words we speak live on. In some distant future, they will circumscribe all that the future will ever know about us. We should give birth to them in love, and in truth, and in the hope that someday they will give someone else a glimpse of what life can be.

You wrote words of valor, and courage, and joy; all will see what your heart holds dear. He wrote words of evil, of destruction, of hate; all will see what his heart holds close. The writer of such bile will be defined by his own hateful words by future generations. It is sad to think that this will be his legacy - words so ugly, all will think him evil.

How much better the gift of good words, wrapped around good deeds - but how bitter the venom of bad words, wrapped around bad deeds...

O.K.

You've convinced me of the need for the death penalty.

What next?

The article's words are indistinguishable from the words of Osama Bin Laden.

If that is what the author really believes, then why doesn't he just go over to Iraq and actively commit treason against the United States?

Stop whining and get it over with, man. If you're a traitor, have the guts to act like one. Don't be a damned coward.

---If you kick a dog enough, it will bite you. ---

From personal experience, no doubt. Somebody seriously needs to kick this little suckwad up and down the street a few times. Don't you wish you could just teleport this individual directly to basic training?

If you kick a dog enough, it will bite you. The dog will not run down the street and bite your neighbor, the dog will bite you.

The basic point is correct: al-Qaida kicked us one time too many, and we bit back.

The [female dogs] in al-Qaida have chosen to bite our neighbors (allies) because they are easier targets. So this reasoning isn't very sound.

Wow, it learned to write. Can it tie its shoes?

It's not okay for America to KILL for its values and self-defense, but it's okay for terrorists....

Wish the San Andreas would finish taking this cretin to his appointment with the subduction zone. He's asthenosphere material.

3. Curious how prior to 9/11 the New York rallying cry was “You got a problem with that, got a problem I’ll kick your ass.” Does anyone really feel sorry for such a lot of violent, ignorant apes? The people who flew those planes believed in something much more than sickening violent greed and selfishness. The average New Yorker will never comprehend this.

The New Yorkers I know are some of the finest people on the planet. Seeing the look in the eyes as the towers burned and their neighbors lept to their deaths rather than burn alive was something I can never forget.

As for the ape who was able to somehow learn to express such written thoughts, I just can't think of an appropriate comment that doesn't involve getting banned.

Some fool started a rant like this at a construction site as our troops rolled into Iraq.
I just told him to zip it or I will do it for him.

Here is what I would like to say to this treehumping fruitcake
My father joined the 6th marines and fought in Okinawa 1945 the last battle of ww11. He was a hero at 16 years old. On the first day of action they walked into an ambush and lost nearly half of the 225 men in the unit. I found out recently form others that My Dad picked up a BAR and charged the enemy in order to allow the medics to evac the wounded. For this action, he was offered a bronze star and refused it, on the grounds that all the men lying dead deserved it more.Out of 225 only 25 came home. He worked hard all his life at an average job and raised us kids well, He never mentioned combat as we grew up. I got this info from transcripts from a reunion of the survivors.
So don't tell me all Americans are fat ungrateful slobs not worthy of freedom or I will kick your butt till your nose bleeds .

Fat, jingoistic, ignorant, provincial cowards that get all their info from fish wrappers like Time and Newsweek, bubbleheads like Dan Rather and other self-deluded morons, and read at the seventh grade level.

Well, he describes Democrats pretty well in that sentance.

The majority of Americans idolize George Bush, the Republican Party, CEOs, and the glory of the corporate world. Americans idolize the very people who are shitting on them everyday. Americans have less sense than dogs. People kick them over and over again and they love them for it. What imbeciles. They deserve what they get, and on 9/11, they got what they deserve.

Sounds to me like a number of current FReepers could have made these same remarks.

Show 'em my motto!
