Thanks to freeper marginoferror for finding this and posting at #17 on this thread:
AP: Al-Qaida Threat Included in Bush Memo (Misleading Headline)
The PDB that Rice discussed yesterday was front page news in May 2002, including the "bombshell" headline.
Not even Fox caught this and it was up to a freeper who recalled hearing about this to simply Google up an article that is in the public record.
There is something terribly wrong with the state of journalism in this country. I've known it for years, but I still continue to be shocked.

Well, Drudge has just picked this up, but without the sub-headline about the lack of fresh info frustrating Bush.
This makes the headline completely misleading, and is a negative for Bush, when the reality is that he was doing everything right. Talk about RAT liberal spin...

I am no longer amazed at the research skills of Freepers.
It's become routine... Kudos!!
I did my part. I fired off an email to the 911 commission, citing the transcript and woodword's article (with a link to it). I also asked for a public apology, by the commission & Ben-Veniste to the American public and specifically to Dr. Rice.

You may find this Washington Post article from 2002 of interest.
It talks about the August 2001 PDB that Rice spoke of yesterday. It also gives its title.

No kidding! The Amarillo Globe News headline this morning (Saturday, April 10) blared: "SOURCES: AL QAIDA PLOTS IN MEMO". Of course, in the article itself, "sources who wished to remain anonymous said..."
If The Big Guy didn't enjoy reading the paper every morning (he's not into the internet like I am), I'd stop my subscription to the Amarillo paper tomorrow...

Bush had specifically asked for an intelligence analysis of possible al Qaeda attacks within the United States, because most of the information presented to him over the summer about al Qaeda focused on threats against U.S. targets overseas, sources said. But one source said the White House was disappointed because the analysis lacked focus and did not present fresh intelligence. Seems to me the President was taking care of business since day one in office.
BTW, does anyone know who wrote the memo? I'd like to know why he/she/they did such a haphazard job.

Great cath, coop...I've been out of the loop since Friday afternoon, and thrilled that Drudge still has both stories headlined. It's big. Mainstream media makes me physically sick.

The "shock" (without awe) will gain momentum as November approaches. If there are still Americans who buy into this silliness, we deserve the Dumbocraps.

Because of you and freeper marginoferror, Drudge is running the dual headlines showing AP reporting this now, WP reporting it in 2002. Way to go, you two!

"Selective memory" would be the diplomatic term for it. We usually just call it BIAS.

So the memo everyone's been making a fuss about is one Bob Woodward had already reported on? Well, that's interesting. . .I have to wonder if he's playing Deep Throat again. Any indicators of Woodward being linked to Richard Clarke, Joseph Wilson, or anyone on the 9-11 Commission?--wasn't it Bob Kerrey who wanted this memo declassified?
